Enrolment

Starting school is a special and exciting time in your child’s life, as they begin the process of their formal education. At St Gertrude’s we recognise you, the parent, as your child’s first educator and we hope to offer a transition process which is as easy as possible.

The enrolment procedures are outlined below and will provide more information regarding your child's enrolment in our school.

Our enrolment period for Kindergarten commences early March each year. Enrolments for students in Years 1-6 can be made at any time throughout the year. Please come into our school office or call for more information.

Enrolment Procedures

We hope this summary of our enrolment procedures will help you through the next step of your child’s education.

Our enrolment packages for Kindergarten 2019 will be available from Monday 5 March 2018. Children born on or before 31 July 2014 are eligible for enrolment into Kindergarten 2018.

To obtain an enrolment package please call into our school office between 8.30am – 3.30pm. There is a lot of information in the package so please take it home, read through it and complete all the forms in the plastic sleeve.

When you return the completed forms you will also need to bring the following original documents along with you:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Baptismal Certificate
  • Immunisation Records
  • Family Photo
  • Proof of residency if your child was born overseas
  • Proof of residency for one parent if both parents were born overseas
  • Evidence of time out of the country eg:  passport, plane tickets, overseas school reports (if applicable)
  • Relevant Family Court Orders (if applicable)
  • Relevant medical and / or special needs information including clinical / educational assessments and reports (if applicable)

We are unable to accept the enrolment forms until we have looked at all of the above documents.

When you return the forms and documents to school it will be checked by our administration staff and an enrolment fee will be taken and an appointment time will be made for you and your child to meet with a member of the enrolment committee.

By July you will be notified of the status of your child’s enrolment application. If your child is offered a place it is important you return the blue Enrolment Commitment and Acceptance form by the due date. Later we will send out details of the parents and children orientation days. Orientation will take place in either late October or early November.

Enrolment Procedures for Years 1-6

Enrolment applications for students wishing to attend St Gertrude’s in Years 1-6 can call to our school office between 8.30am – 3.30pm any time throughout the year.

  • Family Photo

  • Proof of residency for one parent if both parents were born overseas

  • Most recent previous school reports and external test results
  • Relevant Family Court Orders (if applicable)
  • Relevant medical and / or special needs information including clinical / educational assessments and reports (if applicable)

When you return the forms and documents to school it will be checked by our administration staff and an enrolment fee will be taken and an appointment time will be made for you and your child to meet with a member of the enrolment committee.

You will be notified of the status of your child’s enrolment application within 5-10 working days. If your child is offered a place it is important you return the blue Enrolment Commitment and Acceptance form by the due date. Details of your child’s first day procedures will be outlined in a letter to you just prior to their commencing school.
