Class Parent Association

ST GABRIEL’S CLASS PARENT ASSOCIATION.

The St. Gabriel’s Class Parent Association is one way that parents can make a positive contribution to the life of our school. The Association is open to any interested parent.  Meetings take place once each Term.

 The agenda will be drafted by the Principal, with parents invited to add to the agenda at least 24 hours prior to the meeting. NO unlisted item will be addressed during the meeting. NO item will be addressed unless the parent listing the item is present at the meeting.

 One parent will be invited by the Principal to take on the role of Chairperson for the year – this person will chair the meeting.

One parent will be invited to take the minutes of the meeting. These will then be typed up and sent to the Principal for final approval. Once finalised they will be made available to the wider school community through the school intranet.

                                                                                                         GOALS OF CLASS PARENT ASSOCIATION.

1)      Be supportive of the School and Parish leadership.

2)      Provide feedback and suggestions to the Principal around issues affecting the school community while keeping in mind that it is NOT a decision-making body.

3)      Fund raise for specific school projects

4)      Create/Foster a school community spirit

5)      Work together with teachers and parents on issues affecting children.

6)      Promote the school and Parish relationship at every opportunity.

7)      Represent the other families in that Class.

                                                                                                               STRATEGIES TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS

1)      Via our various activities, Mother’s/Father’s Day/Cake stall/Family photographs/entertainment book, Disco, Trivia Night etc,

2)      Organise and provide Morning Tea, Afternoon Tea, Supper, BBQ’s, around school events to build community spirit.

3)      Work together on getting volunteers in class rooms for reading, book covering etc

4)      Ensure that any issue to be discussed is listed on the agenda at least 24 hours prior to the meeting and that the person listing the item is present at the meeting.

5)      Ensure that ALL correspondence (notes, e-mails, texts etc) is cleared by the Principal BEFORE it is sent.

6)      Follow the ‘8 Ground Rules For Participation’ strategies that are provided to every member of the association at the beginning of every year.

WHAT THE ASSOCIATION IS NOT DESIGNED TO DO

1)      Provide a place where parents raise problems that their children are having in the classroom or the playground. These issues should always be raised with the classroom teacher and / or the Principal.

2)      Provide a place where personal issues between individuals are raised or discussed.
