Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Friends,

I warmly welcome you to the St Declan's Catholic Primary School’s website. St Declan's is a two-stream, Kindergarten to Year 6 school, located in Penshurst, in the south-eastern region of the Sydney Archdiocese. The school has been offering a quality Catholic education to the children in the area since 1907. Since that date the school has served the educational needs of the children of St Declan’s Parish and assisted Parents and Carers in the education of their children in the Catholic Faith.

Our school motto, "Never see a need without trying to do something about it", challenges us to live out the Gospel message in the same way that Mary MacKillop did, through service and love of others. We strive to be Christians of the 21st century!

Today St Declan’s is a well equipped, technology vibrant Primary School of approximately 435 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. We provide strong focus to our core purpose: Teaching and Learning and Religious Education.

At St Declan's we value the development of the whole child. This philosophy is reflected in a rich curriculum, with learning programs that interest and challenge the student, developed by a professional and enthusiastic staff. We place strong emphasis on skill development in the key areas of literacy and numeracy and religious education. Technology is an important integrated learning tool in all classes.

Teachers at St Declan’s are highly competent, skilled educators and together with the Support Staff, carry out their duties in strong partnership with Parents, the Parish and the wider Community.

At St Declan's we aspire to develop a love of life-long learning within our students. We look forward to the future with hope and trust in God.

Peace on Earth and to us all,

Ms Maria Ross
Principal
