About Us

St Christopher's is a Catholic systemic primary school within the Archdiocese of Sydney.

Our motto, 'Through Faith and Love we Serve', is demonstrated in our service to others through outreach and pastoral care programs.

Students of all abilities are catered for through program differentiation in each class. There are also Special Education, Reading Recovery, Learning Support and Gifted programs operating throughout the year. Technology is recognised as a particular strength as it is effectively integrated in the Key Learning Areas across grades. The school provides a number of opportunities for students to participate in local and regional sporting events, public speaking, art and performance events. The school has a number of students from Defence Force families who are welcomed, supported and farewelled through structured programs coordinated by a Defence Transition Aide.

A Brief Background to St Christopher's Holsworthy

St Christopher’s church was established in 1969 to serve the needs of the army personnel and their families living in the army camp at Holsworthy. The Parish was served by a number of army chaplains between 1969 and 1998. In late 1998, the army withdrew and the Parish became part of the Archdiocese of Sydney with an administrator, Fr Anthony Mifsud, being appointed to care for the fast growing civilian population. In 2001, Fr Mifsud was appointed as Parish Priest.

In 1999, a Planning Committee was formed to work with the Catholic Education Office in establishing a Catholic Primary School, which when fully completed, would house 3 streams of classes in permanent buildings.

Mrs Maureen Higgs was the first Principal and the school commenced in 2002 in demountable classrooms with 54 students in two Kindergarten classes and a Year 1/ 2 composite class. In 2007 Mrs Margaret Hogan took over as Principal when Mrs Higgs moved to St John the Baptist, Bonnyrigg. Mrs Hogan lead the school until 2011 when the current Principal Mr Tony Boyd was appointed to St Christopher’s. By 2012, the school has grown to 17 classes and a school population of 467 students.

Stages 1 & 2 of the building program commenced in May, 2004 and included the administration block, staff facilities, nine classrooms, toilet facilities and the car park. These new facilities were ready for use in 2005 and were blessed and officially opened by Cardinal George Pell on Friday, 29 July, 2005.

Stage 3 of the building program, which included nine classrooms, toilet facilities, paving and landscaping was completed in 2007. A new library and a multi purpose hall were added in 2009 though the Federal Government’s; ‘Building the Education Revolution’ program.

After ten years leading the St Christopher’s Parish and building St Christopher’s Primary School Fr Mifsud took up a different ministry in the St George district. Fr Thanh Nguyen was appointed as St Christopher’s Holsworthy Parish Priest in 2011
