Social Justice Initiatives

Students at St. Brendan's have an opportunity to participate in a variety of Social Justice initiatives across the school. Student groups such as Pope Francis Award students work to promote Social Justice initiatives and raise money for a variety of organisations throughout Australia and the world. Some of these organisations include, St. Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal, Mary MacKillop foundation, Operation Christmas Child, CARITAS Project Compassion, Charitable Works Fund and St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal and supporting the House of Welcome for refugees.

Students work in collaboration with teachers to develop the school community's awareness and empathy for those in need through prayer and reflection. They promote, organise and run these fundraising events.

Student Representative Council (SRC)

Students in Year One to Six are given the opportunity develop leadership skills through their participation in the Student Representative Council (SRC). They are involved in the decision making process for improvement to the school. They work with teachers to develop the schools understanding of the Habits of Mind and organise and lead school prayer. The SRC are voice of the students.

Environmental Stewardship

There will an Environmental Warrior from each class will take leadership in working with students to develop their understanding of stewardship of the Earth. This will include developing programs and activities about recycling, veggie gardening, worm farms and other initiatives that the students wish to develop. This will help the students to realise that we have a responsibility for our world and what happens to it. With this, we are also involved in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program.
