Mother's Day Breakfast 2015

posted 9 May 2015, 01:32 by Ashleigh Cameron   [ updated 9 May 2015, 01:51 ]

On Thursday 7th May, the children of St Anne's were able to share a special Mother's Day breakfast with their mums, grandmothers, aunties and other important women in their lives! A big thank you to Mrs Bernadette Bridle and the wonderful dads that helped cook and prepare the food! (of course, there were also some mums helping out!) A further thank you to Mrs Anton, who organised our regular Homebush Boys to help out and serve breakfast and catch up with the students they know very well! It was a lovely, sunny morning with some special memories shared, especially the beautiful Mass that we shared together afterwards! We hope all mothers have a special Mother's Day!
Enjoy the photos!

Father's Day Breakfast & Liturgy

posted 5 Sep 2014, 02:06 by Ashleigh Cameron   [ updated 5 Sep 2014, 02:26 ]

On Thursday 4th September, we celebrated Father's Day with a wonderful breakfast organised by our family educator Bernadette Bridle. Fathers, grandfathers, uncles and other carers enjoyed a wonderful bacon and egg brekkie! We are very proud of our community, that so many could attend and the children really loved having a special celebration for their dads! They especially enjoyed the games of handball that were ongoing until the very minute the bell rang!

We would like to thank all the volunteers for their assistance, especially the mums and dads who were able to help serve breakfast. We would also like to thank Mrs Anton (Valantia Year 1) for organising students from Homebush Boys High school to help with the BBQ'ing!

We were then able to celebrate with a wonderful liturgy lead by Year 5. It was a great time to think about our fathers and express our thanks through prayer. Thank you to Year 5 and their teachers for leading us in prayer.

It was such a great morning!  Enjoy the photos below! Hopefully we got everyone!

BOOK WEEK 2014- Connect to Reading!

posted 4 Sep 2014, 00:36 by Ashleigh Cameron

St Anne’s celebrated Book Week over the past fortnight with a Book Fair from Glee Books and

Reading Connection bookmarks were given to each student during library lessons. We culminated

with a theatrical performance from Perform! Educational Musicals called “Worlds Apart”.

The story is unique in that it is really two stories in one that occur in the same house but 100 years

apart. We see Edward who is having his 10th birthday party today. He is concerned about how

people in 2014 are treating both each other and the earth. Meanwhile Molly is in the same place

but 100 years earlier and celebrating her 10th birthday. She is worried about her father who has

gone off to the Great War (WW1) and has not been heard from since he left. Both unwrap a

birthday gift and when the mysterious box lid is opened they appear before each other. When the

lid is closed they fade from each other. Inside the gift box is a writing set and writing letters to each

other is how they now communicate…… and so the adventures begin. Ask your child what happens and

how the musical ends.

Month of Mary

posted 7 May 2014, 14:53 by maria.sabio@syd.catholic.edu.au   [ updated 7 May 2014, 15:00 ]

May is the month which is dedicated to Mary, whom we honour as the first disciple, Mother of God, and Mother of the Church. We recognise Mary as the one who listened and responded to the call of God. Thank you to Mrs Flynn for the beautiful artwork of the Madonna and child which she purchased for the school during her recent pilgrimage to Rome. To celebrate the month of Mary, I will be praying the Rosary every Thursday in honour and remembrance of Mary, this will take place at 8.30am in the Year 3 Classroom, both students and parents are welcome to come along and pray.

On Friday, the 19th July, St. Anne’s celebrated Father Ray Weaver’s 51 years of priesthood.

St. Anne’s staff and student teachers held a morning tea to commemorate this special time in Father Ray’s life as a priest.

We thank him dearly for supporting our school community and for his spiritual guidance throughout his 26 years of service at St. Anne’s.

Inner West Primary Soccer Gala Day

posted 28 Jul 2013, 16:58 by maria.sabio@syd.catholic.edu.au   [ updated 26 Sep 2013, 18:02 ]

On Wednesday 17th July, a number of students from years 3-6 joined in to participate in the Inner West Soccer Gala day at Henley Park, Enfield.

Due to great parent involvement, our students attended training sessions after school and they were also able to showcase their skills by wearing our new school soccer jerseys, purchased by the P&F.

This annual event allowed Inner West students to participate in a round robin event, promoting great sportsmanship and setting a great example for our school.

We look forward to the Infants Soccer Gala Day, which is surely going to be another successful event.
