About Us

St Peter Chanel Catholic Primary School is a systemic school located in Regents Park. It was established in 1925 with an enrolment of 64 students. Staffing the school were the Sisters of St Joseph, who travelled each day from their convent in Lidcombe. Industrial and residential development in the 1950s caused the school population to reach around 500 students by 1960.

In 1989 the Josephite Sisters ended their leadership of the school and the Catholic Education Office appointed the first lay Principal. In 1989 the school became co-educational from Kindergarten to Year 6 with the retention of boys who had previously left at the end of Year 4. At present the school population is 392 students with the average class size 28 students. We are part of the St Peter Chanel Parish at Berala and we share grounds with the Year 7 and Year 8 Regent Park campus of Trinity Catholic College.

We are a two-stream school from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our student population includes a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, with approximately 82% of students having a language background other than English. We proudly embrace our cultural diversity and seek to celebrate and learn from all members of our school community.

We value and nurture a close relationship with the parish community and continuously seek opportunities to celebrate and support the parish of St Peter Chanel.

We encourage and value parent involvement in all aspects of school life and promote partnership between home and school to ensure that students feel safe, supported and secure in their school setting.

St Peter Chanel Prayer

St Peter Chanel
You went to Oceania
To teach others about Jesus.
Guided by the Spirit
who gave you strength,
You lay down your life
for the love of God.
Inspire us
to proclaim the Gospel
as you did. May we, like you,
live our lives in peace,
in joy, and in love.
