Communication

At St Catherine Labouré we endeavour to provide a warm and welcoming environment where parents are encouraged to communicate with the Principal and teachers. Parents will be asked to attend a Meet & Greet Night early in Term One to meet your child's teacher. This is to acquaint you with the teachers and to hear of their plans and expectations.

Our school uses Compass as our Parent Portal, which allows you to access up-to-date and meaningful information about our school and your child's progress. Click here Compass Parent Portal to access Compass and use your login and password.

Appointments with Teachers

If you are concerned about your child’s progress, or wish to discuss a matter with the teacher, please send a note to the class teacher requesting an appointment time before or after school. Unfortunately, the teacher cannot see parents ‘at the door’ or while on playground duty, as the teacher’s first responsibility is for the supervision of the children under his/her care.

Reports

Late in Term 2 a written report of your child’s Semester 1 achievements is sent home. We ask that all parents attend a parent-teacher-student interview to celebrate and discuss their child’s learning. In December a written report on your child’s Semester 2 achievements will be sent home electronically.

Newsletters

A weekly school Newsletter is emailed to parents and is also available on the Compass Parent Portal. This includes School Calendar dates such as pupil free days, sport events, excursions, liturgies, school Masses, assemblies etc. This will keep you notified of school activities and any school information that you may require. A blue communication folder goes home every day for Kindergarten with all notes. Notes to be returned to school should be placed in the folder.

Grade Curriculum Notes

Each term a Curriculum note is available on the school intranet via Parent Page. This outlines the areas of study and details how you can assist your child at school.

Alternate Pick Up Arrangement

Sometimes, you may want another person to collect your child. If so, please send a note that morning to the class teacher, so that they know that you have given permission for your child to go with that person. You only need to notify the office of a change in pick up arrangements if a different person is picking up your child and you have not sent a note.

Please see the link to our Parent Handbook for further information about communication with the school concerning absences, late arrivals and early departures.
