Parent involvement is valued and encouraged. There is a high degree of parental involvement and support at OLSH. The Parents and Friends Association manages the uniform shop, in addition to supporting the school’s resource requirements by fund raising. A high priority is placed on community partnership, openness and social interaction between parents. There are several parent sub-committees, including fund raising, social activities, class parent liaison, uniform and canteen. Parents are also represented on the school’s Advisory Council and are surveyed for their opinion on a range of issues. The executive committee meets with the Principal once a term prior to the general meetings which are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each term at 7.30pm in the school library. P&F newsletter items are included in the school newsletter.
Parents also work with staff to provide assistance to charities and those in need. Part of the P&F fundraising efforts support Project Compassion, St Vincent de Paul Winter and Christmas appeals, the Gethsemane Project, msc missions and two school communities in outback New South Wales as part of the Outreach Social Justice program.
