For Parents

At Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we recognise our parents/carers as the first educators of their children. We encourage a partnership with the parents/carers to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children. There are several parents employed on a part-time basis as Learning Support Officers and others who volunteer to assist in the classrooms.

The OLMC Advisory Committee meets once a term to discuss relevant issues and to hear about current school programs. There are two parent representatives on this committee and other parents are encouraged to attend the meetings.

OLMC has been a pilot school for the Sydney Archdiocesan Family Educator Program, where our school is allocated a person to build links between the school, families and the parish. There has been an increasing number of parents being involved in and attending school functions.

We look forward to continuing to develop the links between the school and the parent community as a vital element in each child's education.
