Enrolment

Enrolment at OLMC is aligned with the Archdiocese of Sydney Enrolment Policy.

Enrolment Priorities Enrolment Policy(short version)

The Archdiocesan Enrolment Policy gives preference for enrolment according to the following guidelines:
  • Active Catholic families from the Parish;
  • Siblings of children already attending the school whose families actively support the ethos and values of the Catholic Church;
  • Children of families who have 'special pastoral circumstances';
  • Catholic families not covered above, or who are outside the local designated Catholic parish;
  • Active & regularly worshipping Orthodox families who are prepared to actively support the ethos and values of the Catholic Church;
  • Active & regularly worshipping families from other Christian denominations who are prepared to actively support the ethos and values of the Catholic Church;
  • Orthodox families who are prepared to support the ethos and values of the Catholic Church;
  • Families from other Christian denominations who are prepared to support the ethos and values of the Catholic Church;
  • Families from other faiths or non-religious backgrounds who are prepared to support the ethos and values of the Catholic Church.

Once the official enrolment period closes the end of May each year no guarantee of enrolment of siblings (brothers and sisters) will be provided if formal application has NOT been lodged. (Due to Government and System restrictions we are not always able to accept overseas students)

Enrolments for Kindergarten 2017 will be open from Monday 8th March - Friday 30th May 2016. Our Lady of Mt Carmel is now accepting enrolments for Kindergarten and other grades for the 2016 school year. The school has adopted a generic enrolment application form established by the Archdiocese of Sydney. Enrolment forms may be accessed in two ways:

  • Make a request for an enrolment application form in person from the school office.
  • Access the enrolment form from the school website: www.olmcmtpritchard.catholic.edu.au

Parents may access a version of the Enrolment requirements as well as the current Parent Handbook from this website. An Information and Orientation package will be available to enrolling families after a placement position has been offered to the family. Information will be regularly updated on the website as it becomes available. You may e-mail the school at info@olmcmtpritchard.catholic.edu.au for all other queries or information.

The completed application form needs to be returned to the School Office accompanied by all relevant documentation:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Baptismal Certificate
  • Citizenship documentation (where applicable) (Passports and/or Visas)
  • Most recent previous school reports and external test results (where applicable)
  • Relevant Family Court Orders (where applicable)
  • Relevant medical and / or special needs information (where applicable)
  • Immunisation Certificate (primary school applications only)

NB: It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that all new Kinder students attend an accredited Pre-School with a full preparation for school program.

A non-refundable enrolment fee of $60 will be charged for each new enrolment K-6 from the beginning of 2008, when the application form is returned. This money will be used to formalize enrolment administration needs for your child during the enrolment process.

The Kinder Enrolment period lasts from March to May each year. Family interviews will be negotiated as soon as possible and offers will be mailed out from the end of June.

Parents are requested to make application for enrolment at Our Lady of Mt Carmel as soon as possible.

Please Note:

The Archdiocese of Sydney enrolment period closes at the end of May. To be eligible to start school your child must turn 5 years of age by July 31st in the year they start school.

NB: Some children who turn 5 yrs old in the June or July and even sometimes in May may benefit from another year to mature and develop in their readiness for school. Discussion with parents will enable each family to discern the appropriate time to transition to school.

The OLMC enrolment committee will review all applications for enrolment. Practising Catholic families living in the Mt Pritchard Parish area will be a priority.
