For Parents

John the Baptist offers a curriculum that is student-centred with a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy skills. We aim to develop in children the skills of independent and cooperative learning and critical thinking.

We are committed to the implementation of innovative and contemporary teaching practices that endeavour to meet the needs of students through the differentiation and integration of the curriculum.

There are presently sixty members of staff, including Executive teachers, class teachers, teacher-librarian, Special Education, English as a Second Language (ESL) and Reading Recovery teachers, as well as school secretarial and support staff.

In recent years, staff development has focused on policy development in the Key Learning Areas of Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Human Society and Its Environment, Personal Development Health & Physical Education, Science & Technology and Creative & Practical Arts. To compliment this, the school developed a school wide pedagogical statement incorporating 5 key values. These are: persistence, enrichment, balance, interconnectedness and self-mastery.
