Immaculate Heart of Mary is devoted to the Marion tradition and shares the Mission of all Sydney Catholic Schools.
We therefore commit ourselves to our students by:
- Celebrating being Catholic in Australia
- Ensuring quality Teaching and Learning
- Making a difference in our world.
At Immaculate Heart of Mary we endeavour to create a school community that is welcoming and inclusive. We aim to live out our motto 'In Giving, We Receive' in word and action, and invite parents to do the same. We value strong partnerships and strive to build positive relationships with parents and students. We believe trust and respect are integral in creating a genuine sense of community.
At Immaculate Heart of Mary we are committed to knowing our students and working together to meet their needs. Our students and teachers are Design Thinkers. We use a process called 'Design Thinking' that informs the way teachers plan and the way our students learn. Our students are problem finders, they find real world problems grounded in their learning experiences, and work through a process to solve them. The process consists of five phases including Immersion, Synthesis, Ideation, Prototyping and Feedforward. Using this process we encourage our students to gain a deeper knowledge of content and develop divergent and critical thinking skills. Learning is personalised, therefore the focus is on knowing each student, their innate abilities, preferred learning styles, interests and needs. Technology plays a vital role in 21st Century classrooms, creating learning opportunities and experiences that develop the students' skills as global citizens.
