Before and After School Care

Many families at Holy Cross regularly use the out-of-school care service to help them manage their work and other commitments. We invite you to use this convenient and valuable service for your children’s out-of-school hours care.

WHEN IS THE SERVICE AVAILABLE?

Before and After School Care is available every school day from 7:30-8:30am and 3:15-6:00pm. Vacation Care is available every day during the school holidays, except for a short break around Christmas. The Vacation Care program is published about one month before the school holidays commence.

WHO RUNS THE SERVICE?

The out-of-school care service at Holy Cross is managed by the parents’ association, Mercy Out of School Care Inc (MOSC), a not-for-profit association established by the parents at Holy Cross Primary School to provide after school care and vacation care services.  MOSC has contracted PrimaryOSHCare to manage and maintain the out-of-school care service.

WHERE IS IT LOCATED?

The service is conveniently located on school premises in the room under the Mercy Hall.  Children have the convenience and safety of the school grounds including access to the school playground for outdoor activities.

HOW DO I REGISTER?

At the start of the year, each family that uses the out-of-school care services at Holy Cross must complete MOSC and PrimaryOSHCare registration forms and pay an annual registration fee for regular or casual after school / vacation care.  The MOSC registration form can be downloaded below. The PrimaryOSCHCare registration form is available at this weblink.

CAN I USE THE SERVICE ON A CASUAL BASIS AND IS A VACATION CARE SERVICE AVAILABLE?

Casual use of out-of-school hours care is also available for families who do not need to use the service on a regular basis.  A slightly higher daily usage fee applies for casual users and they must still pay the annual membership fee.  PrimaryOSHCare also provides vacation care services at Holy Cross, including school-based pupil-free days.  A diverse program of activities is offered, including local excursions and activities within the school. Students are welcome to attend one or all days of the vacation care program.  The program is also open to primary-aged students from other schools in the neighbourhood.  Note that, families who use the service on a casual basis only or for vacation care only must still be registered with both MOSC and PrimaryOSHCare.  A reduced registration fee is available for families that only use the vacation care service.

CAN I CLAIM FOR GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE FOR OUT OF SCHOOL HOURS CARE?

Out-of-school hours care services at Holy Cross are also eligible for the government’s Child Care Rebate.  In order to be eligible, your family must be registered with the Centrelink.  For further details, please contact PrimaryOSHCare or Centrelink directly.  Eligible families are required to submit their Child Care Rebate details to PrimaryOSHCare at the time of enrolment. The full cost of vacation care programs, including excursions/incursion costs are now also eligible for the Child Care Rebate.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED OR PROVIDE FEEDBACK AS A PARENT?

Members of MOSC are given many opportunities to provide feedback and suggestions regarding the out-of-school hours care program provided at Holy Cross.  In addition to the regular interaction with the Coordinator and other Centre staff, MOSC members are invited to attend the school community meetings with PrimaryOSHCare representatives once per term to provide feedback, review and develop Centre programs and activities.  Parents are strongly encouraged to participate in these forums which are held at 6.15pm on the same night as the school’s P&F meeting each term.
