Galilee Catholic School is very focused on student voice.

Student Welfare

The school endeavours to promote a healthy supportive and secure environment for all children. Student welfare is a shared responsibility between home, school and the community. The school has implemented programs to encourage positive social behaviours and problem solving skills. These programs include: Buddies, Anti – Bullying, Student Awards.

Student Leaders

As important members of the school community, students are valued for the contributions they can make to the school. Leadership potential is encouraged and supported.

The School Leadership Team (SLT) comprises of school captain, vice captain and prefects. Examples of the responsibilities of the School Leadership Team are: leading the weekly assembly, joining appropriate committees, delivering special occasion addresses and votes of thanks and demonstrating school spirit.

Mini Vinnies

Mini Vinnies is a group of young people in primary school who get together to help those in need within their school and local community. Mini Vinnies introduces children to social justice issues, to the St Vincent de Paul Society and to living faith through action.

Interschool Activities

The students are encouraged to participate in extra curricula activities with other schools. All extra curricula activities are optional. Examples include:


Debating is a valuable form of communicating a certain position on a specific topic. It involves developing and presenting an argument in a team environment. Debating in a public forum fosters student confidence and cooperation. Each year our senior students are given the opportunity to take part in the Eastern Region Debating competition.

Creative and Practical Arts

Students from Galilee are encouraged to take part in various art competitions throughout the year run by Sydney Catholic Schools and the Local Council.


At Galilee, we employ Tri Skills to assist our teachers in teaching Athletics, Gymnastics, Swimming and Dance every year.

Senior boys are also given the opportunity to join in a rugby competition on a Friday afternoon with other local schools. This takes place in terms two and three.

Primary students take part in various Inter school sporting competitions such as touch football, netball and OZ Tag.

Students who excel in swimming and athletics are also given the opportunity to compete in Cluster Carnivals representing our school.

After school sport is also offered at Galilee free of charge.  The students are exposed to a different sport each term such as golf, basketball, soccer and rugby skills.


At School

ICT is integrated across the key learning areas (KLAs) and includes - desktop publishing, email, research skills, computed assisted learning software, graphics and the use of components such as digital and video cameras.
The children have daily access to:

  • Chromebooks
  • HP notebooks
  • iPads
  • Wireless Internet access and PCs in each classroom
  • Interactive SmartBoards in every classroom
  • Flip video cameras
  • Digital cameras

All students at Galilee have their own individual Google account giving them access to Gmail, Google Docs and much more.

At Home

Through individual Google accounts, the students have access to their class work 24 hours a day. Class Sites have been introduced where students can share their work with each other and even their families.
