Newman Selective Gifted Education Program

Fr John Therry Catholic Primary School has been accepted into the Newman Selective Gifted Education Program and is a Newman Selective Gifted Education School as of 2018. This program is unique to Sydney Catholic Schools and aims to cater for particular learning, social and emotional needs of Gifted students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

This program will follow on from our work and learning gained from the Gifted Education Naturally Embedded Program completed in 2017. It will allow us to further focus on differentiated learning in our inclusive school context, whilst also enriching the professional learning experiences for all staff.

Every three years, all Newman Selective Gifted Education schools will undergo a comprehensive accreditation process so as to sustain a high quality education program.

Students who are identified as Newman Selective will also have clear pathways for selection into Newman affiliated Sydney Catholic High Schools. Some high schools participating in the Newman Selective Gifted Education Program are:
  • Domremy College, Five Dock
  • Marist Sisters, Woolwich
  • Marist College, North Shore
  • De La Salle, Ashfield
  • Brigidine College, Randwick
  • Marcellin College, Randwick
