For Students

Blessed Sacrament Catholic School fosters a caring nurturing environment for our students. The school endeavours to promote a healthy, supportive and secure environment for all children. Student welfare is a shared responsibility between home, school and the community. The school has implemented programs to encourage positive social behaviours and critical and creative problem solving skills. These programs include: Buddies, Anti–Bullying, Student Awards, Peer Support Groups.

Student Leaders

As important members of the school community, students are valued for the contributions they can make to the school. Leadership potential is encouraged and supported.

The Year 6 School Leadership Team comprises of school captains, vice captains, house captains, mission captains, environmental captains and publicity captains and resource/technology captains. Examples of the responsibilities of the School Leadership Team are leading the weekly assembly, looking after the audio visual displays, joining appropriate committees, delivering special occasion addresses and votes of thanks, and demonstrating school spirit.

Interschool Activities

The students are encouraged to participate in extra curricular activities with other schools. All extra curricular activities are optional. Examples include Debating and CaSPA.

Debating

Debating is a valuable form of communicating a certain position on a specific topic. It involves developing and presenting an argument in a team environment. Debating in a public forum fosters student confidence and co-operation. Each year our Years 5 and 6 students are given the opportunity to take part in the Eastern Region Debating competition.

CasPA ( Catholic Schools Performing  Arts)

Students from Blessed Sacrament are encouraged to take part in the Eastern Region Performing Arts Festival or the Archdiocesan Performing Arts Festival. Children from all primary schools gather together to present an item which includes all areas of Creative and Practical Arts.

In 2012, the Archdiocese of Sydney is presenting a Performing Arts festival in June at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Students from Blessed Sacrament will join the ensemble for choir and dance.

Sport

Primary students are given the opportunity to represent the school at interschool events for Swimming, Cross Country, Athletics and other selective sports such as Soccer, Rugby, League, Tennis, Cricket, Netball, Rugby and Basketball.
