Mead Movement Home Page!

The Staff at Mead Elementary is proud to present the Mead Movement Google site!  This page showcases a multitude of movement based resources to increase health and fitness for all of our students. Our goal is to create a lifelong relationship with fitness while also employing current research that shows how movement prepares the brain for learning. In the book Spark, John J Ratey, MD and Eric Hagerman explain the science behind why physical activity can allow students to become better learners.

For the third year in a row we will be incorporating two movement breaks into the  daily school routine. One at the beginning of the day and the second after lunch. These movement breaks are aimed at increasing learning, lowering behavior issues, and developing healthy habits. You can see the schedule by clicking on the movement schedule page.

We are very excited to share this Google site with the students, parents and community at Mead Elementary. Included in the Google site is fitness circuits, dances, and brain breaks/energizers. There is also a list of fitness apps that can be downloaded for smart phones for use at home!
