INTRO TO ROBOTICS - This introductory hands-on class will use the design process to build robots using the VEX Robotics Design System.  You will work in design teams of 3-5 to complete a given task and be ready for classroom competition.  Beyond science and engineering principles, a VEX Robotics project encourages teamwork, leadership and problem solving among groups.  You will also be working to meet a deadline so time management and efficiency will be key components to your teams success.  We will also explore the history of robotics and take a look at possible career paths.  This is a quarter long class and is a prerequisite for Advanced Robotics in 8th grade.  No experience is necessary and any student interested in robotics is welcome to take this class.  We will begin by building the basic Clawbot and have a classroom competition.

ADVANCED ROBOTICS - This class will combine what you learned with Intro to Robotics and Programming with ROBOTC.  You will work in design teams of 3-5 to complete a given task and be ready for classroom competition that will include both autonomous and driver control.  You will also be working to meet a deadline so time management and efficiency will be key components to your teams success.  This class will simulate what it is like to be on a competitive robotics team.
**PREREQUISITES**
You must complete both
Intro to Robotics and Programming with RobotC.


INTRO TO PROGRAMMING USING ROBOTC - In this class you will use ROBOTC to learn the basics of programming Robots using the VEX Robotics platform and curriculum from Carnegie Mellon University.  This class will include direct instruction along with online tutorials from CS2N that will allow you to work at your own pace.  You will have the opportunity to program physical robots in the classroom, and virtual robots online using RobotVirtualWorlds.  We will also explore the history of computer science and take a look at possible career paths.  You don’t need any experience in programming or robotics and any student interested in robotics or programming is welcome to take this class.
**This is a quarter long class and is a prerequisite for Advanced Programming using ROBOTC in 8th grade.**






ADVANCED PROGRAMMING USING ROBOTC
- With INTRO TO PROGRAMMING USING ROBOTC you learned the the basics of programming physical and virtual robots.  In this class new virtual worlds will be introduced and you will have the opportunity to create your own virtual levels using RobotVirtualWorlds.  We will also look at more complex programs and bring in more sensors for autonomous control.  This class will include direct instruction along with online tutorials from CS2N that will allow you to work at your own pace.
**PREREQUISITE**
This is a quarter long class and SUCCESSFUL completion of
INTRO TO PROGRAMMING USING ROBOTC is required to take this class.
