Digital Citizenship

Common Sense Education provides high-quality digital literacy and citizenship programs to educators and school communities. Together, we work to empower students to harness technology for learning and life. Our free resources include ratings and reviews of digital tools, a comprehensive K–12 Digital Citizenship Curriculum, ready-made lesson plans, videos, webinars, and more.

5th graders will be using technology to complete assignments and to research for information.  We will be learning how to be good digital citizens online using materials and resources from CommonSenseMedia.org.  We encourage you to check out the resources available, and talk to your student about digital citizenship.

The Hour of Code is an initiative designed to get kids interested in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) through introductory computer science activities.  Using drag & drop blocks, students can create basic computer programs different themes (this year, code.org has included Star Wars and Minecraft!)
Check out www.code.org to do an hour of code (or more!)
