Science, Energy and Environment Students Visit Hydrotec

posted Jan 3, 2018, 5:12 AM by Allison Morris

Mrs. Jernigan's Science, Energy and Environment class visited Hydrotec North America. Students had the opportunity to see an actual industry that processes and recycles transformer oil. This oil is normally found in the transformers that are used by electrical companies. Hydrotec is environmentally aware and has received awards from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) for being a company that only has 1% waste in their manufacturing processes.

The students were able to see and talk with a chemist, a chemical engineer and an environmental engineer.  They had to have a safety meeting before they could walk around the plant, and they had to wear hard hats and safety glasses throughout the tour.
