Spanish I 300100

Description: The students should become familiar with basic vocabulary, present tense both the regular and irregular verbs, and some oral commands in Spanish. Students will be able to translate sentences from Spanish into English and vice versa. By the second semester, students will be expected to write short paragraphs with verb conjugation and vocabulary learned. Students should be able to carry on limited conversations in the classroom as well. Students may also have oral exams. Cultural items will be added to the class.

Spanish II 300200

Terms Offered: Year long

Description: The students will increase their vocabulary and grammar. The students will learn the past tense of both regular and irregular verbs, as well as the present progressive, the imperfect and future tenses. Students should be able to carry on limited conversations in the classroom. By the second semester, students will be expected to write a short story with verb conjugations and vocabulary learned. Students may also have oral exams. Cultural items will be added to the class. Spanish I and Spanish II should be taken sequentially with no time in between.

Spanish III 300300

Prerequisites: 300100,300200

Terms Offered: Year long This class is designed for those students desiring greater proficiency in the Spanish language. The students will increase their vocabulary and grammar. The students will also be expected to increase their written and oral communications in Spanish. The students will be required to do listening activities on an individual basis, as well as read beginning Spanish novels. By the second semester, students should be able to write essays in Spanish using a combination of the varying verb tenses. Students will gain a better insight into Spanish culture and history. Spanish III may be taken upon the completion of Spanish II.
