Grade Level(s): 9, 10, 11, 12

Prerequisites: 600900 or 601000

Terms Offered: Year long

Description: The primary purpose of this course is help provide students with a common sense approach to mathematics applicable to every day living. General Math, algebra, geometry are topics which will be integrated into this course. Students will be taught techniques for the utilization of calculators.

Applied Geometry 111200 Grade Level (s): 10 Prerequisites: 600400, 601100 or 600100 Terms Offered: Year long Description: This is designed to help students use and apply Geometry in real life situations. This course is designed to help learn geometric concepts through a concrete learning approach. The pace of the class will be tailored to meet the students in the class. The course includes the geometry concepts of reasoning, parallel lines, congruent, and similar triangles, right triangles, angles, quadrilaterals, coordinate geometry, circles, area, surface area, volume, data analysis and probability.

Pre Algebra 601100

Grade Level (s): 8, 9, 10

Prerequisites: 600900 or 601000

Terms Offered: Year long

Description: This course is designed to help students bridge the connection from basic mathematical skills and Algebra. This course will offer the review and practice of topics such as integers, fractions, factors, and multiples to help students develop a stronger understanding of underlying principles of Algebra. The emphasis of this course is on a gradual approach to the understanding of Algebra. Also included in this course will be the collecting, describing and displaying of data. Points, lines, planes, angles, parallel and perpendicular lines, congruence of figures and transformations will be topics of discussion. Perimeter, area and volume of various figures, ratios, proportions, similarity and scale models will be studied. Percents and probability will finish out the course.

Algebra 1 600100

Grade Level(s) 9, 10

Prerequisites:

Terms Offered: Year long

Description: This course is primary designed to provide adequate background for the math-oriented student or those with an adequate basic math background. It is the beginning course in the sequence of Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra 2. The emphasis of the course is on following directions, signed numbers, solving equations, and working problems, graphing equations, working with polynomials, solving systems of equations, working with radicals and exponents, factoring, solving quadratic equations, and working with ratios.

Geometry 600700

Grade Level(s): 9, 10, 11, 12

Prerequisites: 600100

Terms Offered: Year long

Description: The emphasis of the course is on the nature and importance of deductive reasoning. It is a good course to have taken when entering most 4-year colleges, as it provides for a more rounded math background and several colleges require Geometry. In the course we study lines, circles, triangles, polygons (congruency and similarity), constructions, use of Algebra in Geometry, coordinate systems, and transformations.

Standards Math 11 600000

Grade Level(s): 11

Prerequisites:

Terms Offered: Year long

Description: This course is designed to meet the three year math requirement for students who have not taken the Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II sequence in high school. Any 11th grade student who is not in Geometry or Algebra II would be required to take this class. The emphasis will be on the 11th grade math standards which will include topics from algebra and geometry.

Algebra 2 600200

Grade Level(s): 10, 11, 12

Prerequisites: 600100

Terms Offered: Year long

Description: Algebra 2 is a course on linear functions, equations, and inequalities as well as graphing in two and three dimensions. Polynomials, sequences and series, and irrational and complex numbers are covered later in the year

Analytical Geo/Trig 600300

Grade Level(s): 11, 12

Prerequisites: 600700

Terms Offered: Year long

Description: Analytical Geometry is an extension to Algebra and Geometry. Students take a close look at functions, graphs, inequalities, inverse functions, exponents, logarithms, proofs, and conics. In the study of Trigonometry, students will study the properties of triangles and trigonometric functions along with applications.

Intro-Calculus 600800

Grade Level(s): 12

Prerequisites: 600300

Terms Offered: Year long

Description: This introductory course to Calculus will prepare the student for a first year college Calculus. Some of the topics covered will be limits, series, derivatives, integration, velocity and acceleration, and maximums and minimums. A study of Probability and Statistics may be integrated into the course to cover the study of sequences and series, matrices, permutations, combinations, and the applications of probability and statistics to the world today.

Consumer Math 600600 Grade Level(s): 12 Prerequisites: Terms Offered: Year long Description: This course will prepare students for using their math skills in everyday life. Students will be taught techniques for utilization of calculators.
