Southern Valley Schools have qualified for the State Basketball Tournament in Class C2. The Eagles are the sixth seed and will play Archbishop Bergan at 8:45 PM on Thursday, March 13 at Lincoln Southeast. There will be no school next Thursday as many families will want to go down early in the day to watch other games.
The band and cheerleaders will be attending. However, they will ride down the day of and comeback each day we are playing. They will ride our Charter Bus. I realize this will be very late on Thursday night when they return, but I believe is in the best interest of the students. However, band member and cheerleaders are allowed to stay with their parents at a motel instead of riding back with parental permission. The school will pay the entrance fees for the band and cheerleaders.
There will be a pep rally at 6:30 PM on Tuesday night for the public, students and players. We sincerely hope you and your children can make it to the pep rally and the State Tournament. NSAA sets the price for admission at $7 for adults and $5 for students, tickets can be bought on site or on NSAA home page.
From Mrs. Reeves and FCS:
March 12th, FCS is partnering with the SV cafeteria to host a special breakfast in honor of National School Breakfast week. That morning students who want to eat breakfast will be served a fresh fruit salad with the menu of breakfast pizza. FCS students will help serve in elementary and on the high school side.
We would like to invite parents to eat that a.m. and seek the help of P.T.O. in advertising this event. Please let me know whom I need to contact to do this. Our plan is to have parents and those interested in eating that a.m. R.S.V.P. by March 5th so the cafeteria can plan ahead in their breakfast count.
This event is a contest that FCS is entering. The contest requirements include:
*working with PTA or other parent groups to plan a celebration on the importance of school breakfast
*invite community leaders and local celebrities.
*take photos of students and guests enjoying school breakfast.
*submit a Power Point with photos and details of event.
