I am glad you decided to visit my web page.  I am a Business and Information Technology teacher at Surry County High School.  I also hold the position of Career and Technical Education Department Chair, Coordinator of Cooperative Education, Adult Education Computer Instructor, Future Business Leaders of America Lead Adviser, and an adjunct for John Tyler Community College.  I teach the following classes at Surry County High School:   Office Administration, Computer Information Systems, and Design, Multimedia & Web Technologies. As an adjunct for John Tyler Community College I teach Dual Enrollment - ITE170 Multimedia Software, Dual Enrollment - SDV108 College Survival Skills, Dual Enrollment ITE 128 - Introduction to Word Processing Software, Dual Enrollment ITE128 - ntroduction to Presentation Software, and Cooperative Education.  I'm married and have two children who graduated from Surry County High School.  I'm a native of Southampton County and a 1986 graduate of Southampton High School in Courtland, Virginia.  I currently hold a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from Saint Paul's College in Lawrenceville, Virginia and a Masters in Business Managment from Cambridge College in Boston, Massachusettes.  I also hold a Postgraduate Professional License with the Virginia Department of Education with an endorsement in Business & Information Technology.  I'm also industry certified as a specialist in the Microsoft Office Suite.



In 2013, I was named Surry County High School's Teacher of the Year and also named Surry County Public Schools' District Teacher of the Year. Through cooperative learning activities in my classroom, my Future Business Leaders of America students enter competitive events each year. For the past several years, I have had students who have competed in national level competitions in Orlanda Florida, San Antonio, Texas, Anaheim, California, Chicago, Illinois, and Atlanta, Georgia.  I believe that positive parent-school communication benefits parents as well as students.

My professional activities include membership in the National Business Education Association, Future Business Leaders of America, Professional Association of Teachers, Surry County Education Association, Virginia Education Association, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
