Here is some helpful information about general technology use at SUNY Ulster.

What is the Portal?

The Portal ( is where you access everything related to SUNY Ulster. You can check your email, access BlackBoard for your online courses, check your grades, pay your bill, search the library catalog, find out what's happening on campus, and much more!

What is my Username?

Your username is the first seven letters of your last name (or entire last name if shorter), the first initial of your first name, and the last two digits of your U#.

How do I get my password?

If you applied to SUNY Ulster and were accepted, an account was created for you to log onto the MYSUNYULSTER portal. To use your account, simply visit and click the link right below the username and password fields that says "Get Your Password." This is the same process you would go through to reset your password if you forget it.

How do I connect to the wireless network?

How do I put my email on my mobile device?

Each phone is a little different but on all phones.
Add an existing gmail account.
Use your login and password as your credentials.
Some systems will take you to the Portal where you will need to enter your credentials again.
You can control your notifications via the gmail app.

How do I add funds to my printing account?

Students receive, free of charge, $2 toward printing per credit at the time of registration. Community members receive a $5 starting balance at the time of account creation. You can view your account balance on the home tab of the portal. To add value to a printing account, use the link in the Printing Balance channel of the Home tab of the Portal. If you need to use cash to add to your printing balance, this can be done at the Student Accounts office in Vanderlyn Hall.

Where do I find important academic calendar dates?

On the Home tab of the Portal you will have access to the "Academic Calendar & Events" channel.
