NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

The NHS
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. Learn more

Sunapee Chapter
Membership in the Sunapee Chapter of the National Honor Society is determined by the school's Faculty Council and is based on proven scholarship, leadership, character, and service history. To be eligible for consideration a student must be a member of the junior or senior class, must have a cumulative grade average of 89.0 (high school courses only) and have earned a specified number of high school credits. Students who meet the academic criteria are, in the fall, invited to complete application materials. Students who are selected by the Faculty Council for NHS membership are inducted into the Society during a special ceremony in October. For additional information, see the National Honor Society Constitution, available below.

About Us
Throughout the year, Sunapee High School's NHS students serve as role models for other students. In addition to maintaining a strong academic record, chapter members find ways to lead in the classroom and in school organizations. Beyond this, members serve the school and community through many activities, including regular tutoring of middle and high school students, babysitting services to the SPTO, and through various other assistance provided to teachers, community members, and local event organizers.
