SMHS Students Participate in Music Festival

posted May 7, 2018, 10:49 AM by Jonathan Reed

7 May 2018 SMHS Students Participate in Music Festival

Six members of the Sunapee Middle School Music Program are scheduled to perform in The NHMEA Southwest District Middle School Honors Music Festival which will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2018. The day long festival takes place this year on the campus of Rundlett Middle School School, in Concord, NH.

Sunapee students Miranda Andersen (Soprano) and Sophie Bourque (Soprano) will represent the Sunapee community as members of the honors chorus.
Jonah Flint (Trumpet), Sam Flint (Tenor Saxophone), Emma McNally (Alto Saxophone) and Krista Miner (Bass Clarinet) will represent the Sunapee community in the honors band.

The festival is sponsored by the New Hampshire Music Educators Association. Festival selection is based upon individual ability and experience through director recommendation. The students prepare their individual parts with Mr. Pruett prior to the festival. The festival ensembles will rehearse for the full day at Rundlett Middle School and will thenpresent a public concert that evening. The festival features a 90 voice festival chorus and a 95 piece concert band.

For more information regarding music at SMHS please contact Dana Pruett, Music Director at dpruett@sunapeeschools.org  or by calling 763-2735 x317.

Change to School Calendar

posted Mar 19, 2018, 12:09 PM by Jonathan Reed

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Although we have enjoyed the winter and all the weather that comes with living in the Northeast, we have decided to review our 2017-2018 school calendar in light of the number of snow days incurred and will be making the following changes.

The Friday, April 6th Professional Development day will become a normal day of school which will have the effect of changing the last day of school for students to Thursday, June 21st. This will also give us one more snow day, if needed, to keep us from going to the last week of June with students. If additional days are needed, we will then have to fall into the last week of June.

If families have made plans for that long weekend in April, please communicate with your building administrator as to absenteeism.

We hope that this change will allow us a more consistent means to deliver educational services to your children and, weather permitting,  start the summer vacation before the end of June.

Thank you in advance for your flexibility in this situation.

Sincerely,

Russell Holden

Superintendent
