"Where can I pursue my full potential?
Where can I prepare for college and life?"
                                                                                   Summit.

Our Beginning:
In 2010, hundreds of San Jose parents rallied together for a public school option with a path to college.  They discovered Summit Public Schools, a network of high-performing public charter schools in Silicon Valley.  The parents committed hundreds of hours to planning.  In the fall of 2011, Summit Tahoma opened its doors to 100 diverse San Jose students.

Our Success:
Summit Tahoma is a unique public high school in South San Jose.  We provide a college-ready, personalized learning environment for 300 ambitious, diverse students.  100% of our graduates from 2015 and 2016 were accepted to 4-year colleges.  We are tuition free and open for enrollment in grades 9 - 12.

Our Mottos:
This is our school.
College for every Thunderbird.
Leave no Thunderbird behind.
Everyone grows everyday.

          2017 GRADUATION            2016 ORIENTATION          2016 CAMPING TRIP

    Dear Families,

We often think of summer as a season that passes too quickly!   Summer is also the bridge between the accomplishments of our past school years and the opportunities for new students and new successes.  We’re proud of Tahoma’s 52 graduates who were all accepted to college.  We’ll be following their successes as their new journeys begin.

For Tahoma’s current students, school begins in two weeks!

-New Student Orientation is Monday, August 14 from 8:30-3:40.  All new students are required to attend in order to learn about our school practices and meet their mentor and mentor groups.
-The first day of school for all students is Tuesday, August 15.  Students will begin in their mentor groups and then attend their Tuesday classes.  Schedules will be distributed in mentor groups that morning.
-Wednesday, August 16 is a regular school day.
-Thursday and Friday, August 17-18 is our annual Tahoma Camping Trip.  This is a fundamental part of our school program as it helps students to form the relationships that will contribute to their success throughout the school year.  (More information: Camping Trip Information Flier)

Parent drivers make our camping trip possible.  We leave from Tahoma Thursday morning and return Friday midday.  You can volunteer to drive both days or just one day.  The drive is just over one hour among the beautiful redwood trees.  You are welcome to camp overnight with our friendly group of parent volunteers.  Please sign-up to drive TODAY.  For the health and safety of our students, parents must complete driver requirements in advance which take a few weeks to process.  (More information: Tahoma Driver Requirements)

“Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students, and enthusiastic parents with high expectations,” said Congressman Bob Beauprez.  We’re eager to begin our collaboration this year.

THE POWER OF EXPRESSION: A 12th grade Political Activism project, a 10th grade Genius project, and the Advanced Acting performance

Students have reinvigorated our campus the past couple of weeks with the power of their voices: public interest campaigns, new recycling bins, public art, and outstanding performances.  The inspiration continues with 9th grade Persuasive Speeches next week.

Parents, your voice counts too!  We truly value your feedback.  Please take 5 minutes to complete our short parent survey before Friday, June 2.  So far just 22% of our families have completed it.

While many students are working hard to complete their courses, we're also pausing to celebrate the end of the year with a number of fun school events.  Next Friday, June 2 from 3:00 - 7:00 PM we transform our campus to "Summitchella", a music festival with good music and good vibes.  We have a full lineup of student performances.  The event is free and all students and families are welcome.  We'll have food trucks so bring money if you'd like food, drink, or desserts.  (Parents could also stop by the food trucks when they come to pick students up.)

There is a lot to celebrate as we wrap-up the year!
