The City of Summit’s public schools provide an enriched arts experience for all levels of education. The most dramatic example of this is demonstrated by the Summit High School (SHS). SHS offers 53 classes that include music, theater, and visual arts. In the upcoming school year, 12 classrooms will be specifically designated for a branch of the arts programs. In previous school years, nearly 500 students received instruction for either music, theater, and/or visual arts by means of electives or full-year courses. The faculty has its own branch for the arts, and in total, has 12 instructors and a department supervisor who are employed on a full-time basis.
