I was blessed to become the library media specialist at BCES in August, 2011. Listed below are the BCES library procedures which will answer frequently asked questions by parents and students. There are no charges for late (overdue) library books. The BCES Library Charges for books if the book is:
torn or chewed beyond repair.
too wet & when dry will not close or has mold on the pages.
written or drawn in to the point in which the book is no longer readable.
lost.
The cost of library books is based on the replacement price of the library bound book through the library book distributor. Library bound books are more expensive than hard cover or paper back books. The cost of processing isn't included in the lost or damaged book fine. Damaged books are sent home with the students after they have paid for the book.
Kindergarten - 1 book after Christmas Break
First grade - 1 book
Second grade - 2 books
Third grade - 2 books
Fourth grade - 2 books
The lending period for all student library books is 2 weeks. The students may renew the book after 2 weeks if another student hasn't placed the book on hold.
All library books must be returned before Christmas break. Any student that doesn't return their book(s) before Christmas break will be moved to checking out 1 book for the remainder of the school year.
The library is closed the last 2 weeks of the school year to complete inventory. All library books must be returned before inventory begins. Any students who haven't returned their library book or paid their lost library book fine will be kept from participating in the Book Walk on Grizzly Day.
