"BLAST FROM THE PAST".......................This is a Spring project we do every year that is like a big kids show and tell. We do this after the STAAR Tests are over and it's alot of fun. Students bring items (Historical or not) that are antique or "OLD"--pre-1970 and show and tell about it. We have had many interesting items from Antique store signs, rare money, a restored WWII military jeep, cars, High School annuals with a famous person, really old newspaper articles of famous dates, tools, appliances and personal family items. Needless to say it's a fun and very interesting time for the students. Prepare now and find a unique item you can bring. Did I mention its a MAJOR grade in the last six weeks! The best part is I have seen some very "COOL" stuff over the past 35 years.

Daily Work: All Daily work is counted as 60% or the students 6 week grade. I like to have an emphasis on the student being here every day to hear and be involved in what we are doing.
Tests: Any Chapter Test or other assignment given a TEST grade will be counted as 40% of the student grade for the 6 Weeks. We will generally have anywhere from 3-5 chapter tests in any given six weeks.
Projects: Project grades are usually a big assignment such as a Report, Research paper, or anything designated as a Project. These grades will be separate and will be given a specific grade such as counting as 3 grades.
Late Work: Late work is accepted on the first day only! One day late = Highest grade possible is a 70. It will be graded as any other paper. No work will be accepted after the 1st day late or the number of corresponding days a student has been absent. Example: A student has missed 2 days due to illness. The student will be given two days to complete the assigned work he/she has missed…….IF……the student comes and finds out what they have missed. If a day has passed before the student comes to find out what they owe, they now have only one day to turn it in.
Extra-Credit: : I will hold the discretion of allowing extra credit or not. No extra credit will be given in the last week of a six weeks. If a student has any zero’s, extra credit will not be given. I am inclined to give extra credit if during the six weeks if a student brings something to class that we are studying or will cover and the other students can benefit from.
Make-Up Work: All make-up work is the students responsibility to set up and get scheduled with the teacher. The Student must do this on the next day they are in class.
Make-Up /Re-Takes for Tests: Re-Takes or Make-up tests will be given in several different forms. Sometimes this will be in correction form or Re-taking the Test.
RE-TAKES AND MAKE-UP TESTS CAN BE DONE BEFORE SCHOOL, DURING HORNET PERIOD. IT WILL NOT BE DONE DURING THAT NEXT DAYS CLASS-PERIOD UNLESS THERE IS NO OTHER OPTION.
WHEN YOU ARE GONE FROM CLASS, COME SEE ME BEFORE CLASS OR SCHOOL TO FIND OUT WHAT YOU HAVE MISSED. IT IS THE STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO FIND OUT WHAT YOU HAVE MISSED.
STAAR TEST in the Spring
Below are a few links to use to prepare to the State Testing. These are great sites with sample questions, study guides and general info about how to pass the STAAR test in the Spring.
We are now adding a Hedghog Staar Review program in the Spring to prepare for the Staar Test. It is done about 2 weeks before the Test will be taken. I think this was a great addition to get ready for STAAR.
