Pre-K Counts Registration

Child Development Centers and Franklin YMCA are seeking 3- and 4-year-old children from Franklin Area School District to enroll for the upcoming school term in Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts. To qualify for this year’s Pre-K Counts classes, a child must reach his or her third or fourth birthday by August 1.

Pre-K Counts is a state-funded preschool program (full-day at Child Development Centers, half-day at Franklin YMCA) for boys and girls from income-eligible households. The program is intended to give children an early educational boost that will help them to make a successful transition to kindergarten and beyond.

Pre-K Counts instruction focuses on reading and math skills, social and school-readiness skills, following directions, and getting along with fellow students and teachers. There also is emphasis on developing an interest in learning and involving the family in the child’s education.
