Polar bear cubs, or babies are born in November or December. Depending on where in the Arctic they live, they leave the den in March, April, or May.They usually hang around the den for a week or two while the cubs get used to the arctic other than the den. When the mother feels they are ready for the journey, she leads them to the sea ice so she can hunt seals. The mother is VERY hungry after going without food for so long. Polar bear cubs remain with their moms for about two and a half years, depending on where in the Arctic they live. During that time, they learn how to hunt and survive. |
