MAP Testing, April 24:  Monday marks the start of MAP testing for students. We take two MAP Assessments one Math and one Reading. Our students are scheduled to take only one MAP test a day.

District Band, April 24, 7:00pm:  Join us at the i-wireless Center to hear all 840 band members play!  See you there!

All track athletes interested in the state track meet need to meet in A gym to start practice today.  Everyone else can head out to the track like normal.

There will be open mat sessions for wrestlers on Monday and Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00 at the PVHS wrestling room

PVJH weightlifting class participants will need to follow the HS parking lot rules.  Parents will need to use the west lot just behind the café/theater area. PVHS Baseball Parent Meeting, April 25:  There will be a Parent Informational Meeting held on Tuesday, April 25th at 7:00pm in the High School Theater.  Players are encouraged and welcome to attend. We will review dates, HS tryouts, forms needed, communication, overall update and vision regarding the program and all teams.

 

There will be NO Activity Busses on Tuesday, April, 25th.

 

Attention any 8th grade student interested in trying out for cheerleading at PVHS:  Informational packets are available in the PVJH Main Office for pick-up – the packet details the try-out process.

 

 

Art club will meet on Tuesday May 2nd.  If you are interested please sign up outside the art room.

Girls who are between the ages of 12-15 and love the outdoors, have an opportunity to attend Iowa’s Outdoor Journey for Girls at Dolliver State Park in June, Hickory Hills County Park in July, or Clover Woods Camp in August.  This is a three day/two night camp aimed at introducing outdoor skills to girls in a supportive, learning environment where they have the opportunity to try:  Canoeing& learn water safety, Basic orienteering, Fish & wildlife identification, Archery, Firearm safety & basic shooting, Camping & outdoor survival, Game care, Fishing & preparing the catch, Hunter education certification

The head varsity football coach, Rusty VanWetzinga, will be at the junior high to discuss high school football with all 7th and 8th graders. All interested students should meet in Mr. Vice’s room (#124) on Wednesday, April 26th before school at 7:20 am.

  The cafeteria will be under construction starting on Monday through the rest of the year. The choices will be limited to the main dish and a sandwich.

PE make-ups will be today after school.  Anyone needing to make up a PE class can do that in the “A” gym from 2:30 until 3:10 pm.

The last session for Cinder, and for Mrs. White’s Book Club, will be Thursday, April 27th at 2:30.

Students who will be 14 years old by July 1st have a job opportunity with Mycogen Seeds in Davenport.  Information and applications are available in the cafeteria.

 

Are you interested in a health career?  St Ambrose University is offering their 10th annual Health Career Adventure Camp for students entering 7th and 8th grade in the fall.  The camp will be offered the week of July 17th.  Registration is due by June 30.  Registration material and information is available in the JH Counseling Office.  Priority will be given to those students who have not previously attended.

 

Do you love comparing books and movies?  Do you love snacking and munching?  Do you enjoy reading inspirational and uplifting stories?  The Book Munchers next book is Heaven Is For  Real and will meet on Thursday, May 11th at 3:15 in Room 51.  Bring a snack, drink, and a miraculous story to share.  See Ms. Dircks or Mrs. Cline.

Donate your used baseball equipment! PVJH is collecting any and all baseball equipment to be donated to Quad City kids who would otherwise be unable to play the game. All donations will benefit kids baseball teams at One-Eighty in Davenport.  For more information visit http://www.oneeighty.org/. If you are unable to deliver equipment to PVJH in the main office, call Monica Kruse at 309-737-8572 to arrange pick up.

 

The informational meeting for those signed up for this summer’s Washington D.C. trip will be held on Monday, May 8th at 7:00 at the junior high.  Trip materials will be distributed at this time.  We will also go over a preliminary itinerary and packing list.  Parents and students are both encouraged to attend.  If you are unable to attend, please contact Ms. Larsen
