About the Class
Course Description:
By integrating everyday technology skills into authentic, problem-based instruction this course focuses on computational thinking and principles of computers in order to help students be successful in middle school and beyond. Students will learn to be more efficient with their device by utilizing problem solving and troubleshooting techniques. A variety of useful applications will be explored to give students the knowledge and tools they need to use their device effectively. Students also learn introductory coding skills through visual programming languages.
Course Topics
Projects and assignments are designed to be completed in class. Many assignments will integrate topics students are studying in core classes. If students are using their class time wisely, they should not have homework very often. Students need to have their own ear buds for watching instructional videos.
Grading
Grading is based on student achievement towards the course standards listed in Liberty Public Schools’ Curriculum Guide. Most of these standards correlate with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards for Students.
