    Hello Kindergarten Families,

My name is Emily Hubbard and I will be teaching your child this year! I would love to introduce myself to you. I am originally from the Columbus, Ohio area and moved to Kansas City in September of 2013 with my husband, Jordan, because of his job with Cerner. Although we are about 11 hours from home, we really love it here in KC! In my free time I love to explore Kansas City, cheer on my Ohio State Buckeyes, run (I'll be running the KC Half Marathon on October 15th), bake, and craft.

This will be my third year here at Kellybrook and my fourth year in LPS. I earned my bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University and my master's degree from Muskingum University. Primary grades are an absolutely amazing time to be involved in a child’s learning. As a teacher I get to watch their young minds work and grow. They can do such amazing things and I feel so privileged to be a part of it!

While your child is in my classroom they will learn so much. Not only will we focus on building a strong foundation of reading and math, but your child will also leave kindergarten as an author with a love of writing many different types of stories. It is very important to me to establish a safe and loving classroom community. I want this classroom to be a home-away-from-home for your child. I will do this by creating an environment where students feel comfortable to take risks, build upon their successes, and solve problems with teamwork. In this classroom we will laugh together and find out how to make learning fun!

I am so excited about the upcoming school year and meeting our new Kellybrook cougars - it is going to be fabulous! The one thing I want you to remember is that we are a team in helping your child become successful in learning. Parent/teacher communication will be key in making this year a success for everyone. Your child is so very important to me. Please come to me with any suggestions, concerns, or celebrations! I look forward to the 2016-2017 kindergarten school year :)

    Thank you so much,

    Mrs. Emily Hubbard
