Welcome Kindergarteners, Parents & Families!

Welcome to Kindergarten at Kellybrook! I'm sure you've all been anxiously awaiting that exciting teacher-placement! I can remember, as an elementary kiddo, getting so excited for that at the end of each summer.

This is my second year at Kellybrook, so last year, I was in the same place as your child, being new! Last year was a great year and I learned so much and I feel even more prepared this year!  I'm so excited to get the year started and to see what it has in store for us! I know that, for some of you, this may be an interesting transition for you and your child, becoming that "big kid" at elementary school- and letting your little one go! And for some of you who have already gone through it- piece of cake! I want to be sure I stress, that either way, I am here for your kids, I am also here for you! I hope to establish good lines of communication with all of you, and I want to hear from you! One of the best things about being a teacher is the personal relationships that can be built between the teacher and the student as well as with their family! I believe that when children can see that their education is important to their teachers, parents, and families, we are together building lifelong learners!

Our classroom is almost ready for Back to School Night on Monday, August 15th! The doors will open at 5:00pm and you are free to come anytime between 5:00 and 6:30. You will get to look around our classroom, get some information and see where you will be coming on the first day of school to help ease that transition! I ask that your child bring with them their school supplies and a 4x6 photo of their family to keep in our classroom.

You can find a school supply list here. Specifically, we have asked that the only things you label with your child's name are their backpack, zipper pouch, headphones, and scissors. Everything else will be shared, "community style," within our classroom! Because this is the case, we also ask that for those shared supplies, you stick with the generic variety and no novelty items.

If you have a chance, you can fill out the Google Form that is on the For Parents tab at the top of this page. This gives me some information on your student, how to reach you, etc. You can also fill this out at Back to School night if you don't have a chance before then.

I have sent each child a letter in the mail, so be checking your mailboxes this week! I can't wait to meet your Kindergartener very soon! Have a fantastic last few days of summer!

Sincerely,
Miss (Jordan) Bush
