Hola

EXTENDED FLEXIBLE LEARNING ASSIGNMENTS
WEEK UNO
lunes, el 23 de marzo
Welcome back! Today we are starting a new unit--Family Life.
If you can't get the video to play, do not worry. Just skip down to the quizlet flashcards below the box and see your new words. My suggestion is for you to listen to the new vocabulary words in Spanish and repeat them. It would also be good for you to write the words out in both Spanish and English like all our other vocab pages so far this year.

Unit 6A Vocabulary

martes, el 24 de marzo

Complete the following activities.
Do not email me an assignment/activity unless I request it. Most of your daily activities will just be practice for you, like a worksheet completed in class that I am not taking a grade for. If you have questions, raise your hand and then email me! When you have completed each day's activities, give yourself a high five and relax! Just remember to take another look at your vocabulary words sometime today to try to commit them to memory.

Unit 6 La Familia de Cristina

Look at Cristina’s family tree.  Can you figure out how everyone is related to her? Copy this chart onto a piece of paper and fill it in.

Do not email me an assignment/activity unless I request that you are to turn it in. Most of your daily activities will just be practice for you. When you have completed each day's activities, give yourself a high five and relax! Just remember to take another look at your vocabulary words sometime today to try to commit them to memory.

FIRST--For those of you who did yesterday's IXL lessons, you did ¡FANTÁSTICO!
Many of you did NOT do IXL that was assigned yesterday. Please do it before today's lesson. If it goes into PowerSchool for a grade, you will have a ZERO. IF you don't have login information, email me. I can get that for you.  And, speaking of zero's, some of you never completed the "vacación de primavera" project we worked on in class before spring break. Those grades are in PowerSchool. If yours is still missing by next Friday,I will enter a score 0/zero.
Please keep up with your work.

2) If you cannot view these, please let me know.

ASSIGNMENT: IXL UNIT 5 (LA FAMÍLIA) C & D

martes, el 31 de marzo
To those of you that completed IXL yesterday--¡BRAVO! It was kinda hard with words that you don't have on
flashcards AND you had to spell them correctly! GOOD WORK! I am so proud of you for keeping up with your SPANISH!

ASSIGNMENT: Last Thursday (jueves) you had a Verde Importante worksheet explaining the verb TENER.
Let's practice using that verb in context today. Remember, write your answers on a piece of paper so you can
check them tomorrow. Under the 4 sentences you write about yourself is a "rompecabezas". That means, literally,
"break heads" or Brain Teaser! Notice it says, LEER, ESCRIBIR, PENSAR. The paragraph tells a story. First, fill in the
4 blanks with the correct forms of TENER, and then solve the brain teaser. IF you want to send me your answer
because you can wait until tomorrow to find out, feel free! I would love to hear from you! I miss you! ¡Buena Suerte!

jueves, el 2 de abril
Almost to the end of the second week. I am so proud of all of you who are getting your assignments done! ¡BRAVO!
Remember, tomorrow is the last day to get your Spring Break Projects done. I will enter a 0 (zero) in PowerSchool if
I did not receive yours. You can still get it done but maybe that zero will remind you how much your grade depends on it!
Today's lesson is a review of something you already know. Since we looked at the verb TENER (to have) this week,
today I want to look at TENER QUE (OBLIGATION: to have to do something). You can use any form of TENER
but after the QUE there will always be a verb in the infinitive form. Modelo: Tengo que estudiar. (I have to study.)
estudiar is the infinitive in this example. So, please...
FIRST: watch the slides, work out your own answers and check them.
 Tener + que
AND
SECOND: Practice in IXL, UNIT 7-P There are only 9 questions, so take your time to get them all correcto!
That is all for today. If you have any questions or problems or needs, please don't hesitate to email me. I miss you all!

FYI--tomorrow you are going to take a NONGRADED Quiz in conjuguemos. It is over your vocab. It is a practice
run for a GRADED Quiz I will give you on Monday. So, tomorrow we will solve all login issues & take a practice QUIZ
.

GDEV (GRACIAS A DIOS ES VIERNES) TRANSLATED= TGIF

viernes, el 3 de abril.    As I promised yesterday, today let's see if you can login to conjuguemos.com and take a nongraded quiz. It is over your vocab. Maybe a good place to start once you are logged in is to play Splatman with the vocab in Unit 6A-Family Life. And when you are ready, take the quiz. The quiz has 10 words in English that you put in Spanish. Don't forget to use el/la, los/las before the word.  I won't take off for a missing accent mark, but you do have to spell correctly. If you are experiencing login difficulties, please email me. I get it, it has been awhile!

That's all for today. Thank you for all the hard work you have done this week. I miss you all. Stay safe and healthy.
Es todo por hoy. Gracias por el buen trabajo esta semana. Los estraño a todos. Estar seguro y bien salud.

SEMANA TRES
lunes, el 6 de abril
Thanks to all of you that completed Friday's Quiz in conjuguemos. It was a practice run.
Today is a 10 point QUIZ. This grade will be entered in PowerSchool. You will find it in conjuguemos.com
After you log in, you should see a message from me at the top left of the page by the frog (la rana).
The QUIZ is #1 under the tab "My Activities" which is above the frog's head!
Just to remind you again, you will NOT have to use el/la, los/las. Also, be sure to click "check answers" & SUBMIT.
Don't forget to check your grade in PowerSchool tomorrow. Gracias y buena suerte.

martes, el 7 de abril
For all of you that completed the QUIZ in conjuguemos--¡FANTÁSTICO! Grades are in PS. IF you did NOT take
the QUIZ yet, please get it done--You don't want a 0 (zero) for your first grade in UNIT 6!
If you remember, yesterday's QUIZ used the word "mi" in every sentence. That is a possessive adjective that
means "my." But how do we say our? Or your? Or his grandma, their cousins, her brother?
Please complete this Verde Importante worksheet(s) on a piece of paper, or download, or print out (you guys have
it all figured out!) in order to learn all about possessive adjectives.
And, as always, email me if you have any questions!

Unit 6 Verde Importante Possessive Adjectives

miércoles, el 8 abril YES, You are half way through the week! Great work!
A few of you still have not submitted the QUIZ in conjuguemos. Please do it ASAP! If you didn't
get the grade you wanted, try retaking it. I saw that some students took it 5 times!
TODAY, I have the answers to the Verde Importante paper you worked on yesterday. Check your answers.
After you compare answers, please practice possessive adjectives in IXL Unit 5- lessons L & M.

Verde Importante Poss. Adj. Answers

That's all I have for you to do today.  Tomorrow, a Kahoot! and Friday-"Make Something Fun"

jueves, el 9 de abril

Today's activity is a Kahoot! that reviews the vocabulary in the list you made from the Quizlet on our first day back
after break. (lunes, el 23 de marzo) Hopefully you wrote all your words in English and Spanish like all our vocab lists.
It might be helpful to have that list in front of you! IF you do NOT have a list, review this quizlet.
Unit 6A Vocabulary The questions change after the first 10, and 11-20 are asking questions regarding Cristina's Family. Remember her?
She told us all about her family members at the start of this unit. Before you begin the Kahoot, I would suggest you
look at Cristina's Family Tree on martes, el 24 de marzo.
So, play the Kahoot! and have fun! I might even list the TOP 10 students--the first to get it done and get 20/20!

GO TO KAHOOT.IT THE GAME CODE IS 0271071 Please enter your name, first and last so I can see who played it!

GIMKIT-REMOTELY

At exactly 12 noon today, Friday, April 17th, I will open up a Gimkit game code and anyone who wants to can login and play AT THE SAME TIME with all spanish classes. So set your reminder/clock/alarm for 12 noon. When you sign in to play, be sure to use your names, first and last, so we know who we are up against and who is in the lead!* Since it will take a bit for all students to sign in, I will begin the game at 25 players, including me! Let's GO!

Also, I got this from GIMKIT. Please note:

*Students can now see the leaderboard on their own device. They will just need to click the leaderboard icon on the top left. (Kind of a diamond/cross-looking thing to the right of the hamburger/3 lines.)

With that, students can see who's in first place and where they rank!

gimkit winners: Adam and Naomi Fuller!Alexa and Dylan Nicholas!Lexi and Dora!

TIENEN UN BUEN FIN DE SEMANA. HASTA LUNES.

SEMANA CINCO

lunes, el 20 de abril
GRACIAS for all who participated in Friday's GIMKIT! I even joined in on my iPad. But there was no beating the winners!
They are smart and fast! I am old and slow! It was fun to see all of your names as you joined in. I pictured your faces
and realized how much I miss you! My emotions kept me from doing my best! (Not really, I am just trying to find an excuse!)

Last week you wrote descriptions of you and your family members using your new vocabulary. I want to say ¡muchas
gracias! for all of you that sent me a picture of your work! Your artwork was amazing! And your spanish describing
your family was good! Especially when you talk about your brothers and sisters. I have not seen the words feo, estúpido, perezoso and gordo used so much! You are doing a great job! Keep up the good work! ¡FANTÁSTICO!
Today, you are going to read descriptions of
personas famosas. Match the pictures up with the descriptions.

Already some students are experiencing difficulties with this activity. IF you can view it, please just write the
the slide # and the name of
celebrity that matched the description on that slide. This activity should be fun and
interesting as you put your
vocab knowledge into practice! I have included an extra download of the last slide
that I would like you to complete. Email it to me when you are done if you want. I would love to see them!

GRACIAS to everyone who emailed me your slide/work from yesterday. They were amazing and entertaining!
Today I have 2 things for you to do...

PRIMERO: IXL PRACTICE with the new vocab. Unit 2, C & D. Push yourself and try for 100%!

SEGUNDO:
There is a video in Sr. Wooly that goes well with this vocab. Please go to senorwooly.com
to login (hopefully you remember your password) and complete
Nugget 1 with the video GUAPO.
Email me if you are having problems logging in. Have fun!

miércoles, el 22 abril
Too many students to mention with the work you completed yesterday in Señor Wooly! ¡Fantástico!

Today's assignment is a review of a verb we learned way back in Unit 2 when we learned words to describe ourselves
and wrote our "poema en diamante"! It is the verb SER which means "to be". You have a Verde Importante paper
that explains it if you want to refer to it. In Spanish, we have 2 verbs that both mean "to be," SER and ...(do you know?)
We will review that verb tomorrow and then on Friday, we will look at them both side by side and you will have an
activity where you will need to decide which verb to use (and the correct form!).
And next week, you will be tested on the 2 verbs.

FIRST, let's look at SER in the following Google Doc. Read through the following paragraph and on a piece of paper,
write the correct forms of the verb. #1-9 and only write the form of the verb SER.
SECOND, practice the verb SER in IXL, Unit 2 J & K

The verb SER

ON FRIDAY, I WILL ANNOUNCE THIS WEEK'S FIESTA WINNER--
THE HOUR THAT HAS THE MOST STUDENTS
COMPLETING (TO 100%) THE IXL ASSIGNMENTS FROM THIS WEEK!

RIGHT NOW, HOUR 2 IS IN THE LEAD!! AS OF 3:00 TODAY, HOUR 1 WINS! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
YOU HAVE UNTIL FRIDAY TO DO THE IXL ASSIGNMENTS. THEY TOOK MOST STUDENTS 5 MINUTES!

JUEVES, el 23 de abril

FIRST, the answers from yesterday...1. eres 2. soy 3. son 4. somos 5. son 6. es 7. somos 8. es 9. somos

Today's lesson is a review of the other verb in Spanish that means "to be", the verb estar.
You have a
Verde Importante paper
that explains it if you want to refer to it.
We used this verb at the beginning of the year
to ask, "¿Cómo estás?". And then in Unit 3 to say where things are in the classroom. For example,
"El libro está encima de la mesa." We even used it in the food unit to say where things are in the fridge!
This verb is used to say how you feel and where someone or something is located. We will practice it today and
tomorrow we will look at it side by side with SER.

NEXT, let's look at ESTAR in the following Google Doc. Read through the sentences at the bottom of this google doc
and on a piece of paper, write the 6 correct forms of the verb. #1-6 and only write the form of the verb ESTAR.

FOR MORE PRACTICE WITH THE VERB ESTAR, DO IXL UNIT 4, I & J

The verb estar

Thanks to all of you for keeping up with the work! So many of you are doing the practice in IXL. I know this will be very
helpful for those of you who plan to go on to Spanish 2. I will post the hour in the lead today--the hour that has the
most students completing all 4 of the assigned IXL lessons. I will take a final look at the results on Friday.

Results as of 10 am
OMG--Lexi K and Ashton have already completed today's IXL practice in 3 minutes to 100%. ¡ESTUPENDO!
Hour 2--Ava Hood and Gabrielle both at the top with 5 minutes.
Hour 3--Sadie and Isaac both took 4 minutes.
Hour 4--Kaiya only 3 minutes.
Hour 6--Nico 7 minutes & Riley 9 minutes.
AS OF 3:00 TODAY, HOUR 1 WINS---AGAIN! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYBODY!

¡Espléndido!

viernes, el 24 de abril

FIRST, the answers from yesterday...1. están 2. estamos 3. Estoy 4. están 5. está 6. está

SECOND, Let me give you the results from this week's completion of IXL assignments. But before I do, let me say this to
all of my Spanish students...I still plan on entering grades into PowerSchool for the next 4 weeks. Those scores could
GREATLY change your overall grade...for the better! Many of you have emailed me to ask how you can make your grade
higher--keep doing the work! There will be some easy A's for assignments coming up. Hang in there! The school year
is not over yet! Your grades are not final yet! You have not learned all you need for Spanish 2 yet!

For those who did not complete IXL assignments this week, you let your hour down! Here are the stats:
FIRST PLACE --HOUR 1
SECOND PLACE-- HOUR 2
THIRD PLACE-- HOUR 6
FOURTH PLACE--HOUR 5
LAST PLACE--HOUR 4
HOUR 1 WINS THEIR BREAKFAST FIESTA! YUM!!

Your assignment for today is to take a quiz in conjuguemos over the 2 verbs we looked at
this week, SER & ESTAR.
(for how you feel and where you are, always use the verb estar)
Because I want you to do your best on this quiz, please review the information below.
Feel free to ask questions. Then, with your "tools" (NOT a translator!) complete the quiz
in conjuguemos.com titled "Forms of Ser and Estar." It is worth 20 points.
***This score is going into PowerSchool*** Gracias. Tienen un buen fin de semana.

Ser v Estar

SEMANA SEIS

lunes, el 27 de abril BIENVENIDOS
Remember that word on the whiteboard in the back of my room? It means WELCOME! (BACK!)
I love the response to Friday's Quiz and the emails with such good questions from so many of you. We looked at the
verbs ser and estar and the uses for both. I am going to repeat that today because it is so important for you to
get it right, especially if you plan to continue in this language in High School.
For today's activity, I include the same chart I gave you on Friday (w
hen the paper refers to "the chart on page 258"
this is the chart they are talking about).

On the worksheet, there is a chart on the bottom for you to fill in the verbs you circled for Part A and give the reason
why it is SER or ESTAR. You do NOT choose the verb, that has been done for you. You just tell why that verb is used.
Those reasons are the bullet points in the chart on the top of the page below under each verb. Here's a quick review:
SER                                                      ESTAR
*who a person is or what a person is like                            **how a person feels
*what something is or what something is like
**where a person or thing is (location)
*where a person or thing is from (using 'de')

List one of these reasons on the right side when writing the verb on the left side in the chart in Part B.
Follow the modelo.
As usual, I will give you my answers tomorrow.
Then, we will continue with the second page of this Verde Importante paper and end the week with a test on Thursday.

ALSO, you can retake Friday's quiz in conjuguemos, just email me your new score so I can change it in PowerSchool.

FIRST, for those of you that completed your Family project, I am still reading through those, and loving every minute of them, so please be patient with me as far as posting your grade in PS.  You are working hard and giving me some beautiful art, great photos, and perfect Spanish! Muchas gracias estudiantes buenos. NEXT--Today we are starting our last Unit-Clothing and Shopping.Your assignment for today is your LAST vocab list. semana nueve

lunes, el 18 de mayo. ¡Hola estudiantes!
FIRST, for those of you that completed your Family project, Thank you! I loved them!

This week's assignments will be activities that I think will be the most helpful for those of you going on to Spanish 2.  Even though we did Extended Flex Learning for the last 8 weeks, we still covered all of the material that we would have if we were in the classroom. I am so proud of the students who made it this far. You have worked well under unusual circumstances. You have successfully completed your first year of a high-school Spanish class and I am so proud of each and every one of you. Congratulations.

Answers from Thursday's activity to practice these 3 stem changing verbs: pensar (to think), querer (to want), and preferir (to prefer). I got several emails asking which verb to choose. The use of these verbs is very similar. To say "I prefer the yellow t-shirt" or "I want the yellow t-shirt" or "I am thinking about the yellow t-shirt" are about the same thing in the English language. They are just good examples of stem-changing verbs in -ar, -er, and -ir categories. So, if you did not use the same verb as the answers show, do not worry. I am more concerned that you used the correct form.

Unit 7-Stem Changing Verbs Answers to Core Practice Act. 7A-5
