2016-17 Focus

We will continue to find ways to support teacher learning through collaboration and the sharing of best practices - all in support of doing our best for "every single student, every single day."

As a Policy Board, we will continue to explore the linkages between evaluation and professional development needs so we can continue to support and provide opportunities to colleagues in these areas.  Additionally, we will be able to explore new initiatives and revisit those begun in prior years.  Over the course of the coming year, the Policy Board will:

  • Encourage Policy Board membership from schools that are underrepresented.
  • Develop and offer professional opportunities that align with the result of several needs assessments.
  • Continue to maintain high standards for pathway approvals and improve our communication related to this effort.
  • Support the ongoing Professional Development School (PDS) initiative as it expands and evolves to formally include six of our district schools (BHES, BVES, PRES, MKES, WPES, FLMS).
  • Provide support, as needed, to the PDS Steering Committees in their efforts to provide more targeted PD for interns.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and direction in shaping the current Mentor Program for supporting new staff.
  • Continue to cultivate the practices and culture of the Policy Board that make it a vital source of information and support within our schools and community.
