Music at St. Thomas

Our services are based in traditional hymn singing, anthems, and instrumental music. Most of our hymns come from the Hymnal 1982. We do, however, incorporate newer music from the supplemental hymnals Wonder, Love, and Praise, and Lift Every Voice and Sing. The choirs provides leadership for most of the music, with occasional help from talented instrumentalists among the congregation.

The Sunday 8 a.m. service uses much simpler music, with a cappella singing of folk hymns and service music.

St. Thomas Choirs

The Adult choir has about 16 members. The choir offers beautiful music for the glory of God each Sunday at the 10 a.m. service. All interested members of the congregation are welcome. Operatic voices are not necessary – just an enjoyment of music, a commitment to the program and desire for wonderful camaraderie. The Adult choir practices each Thursday evening from 7:30 to 9 p.m., and Sundays following the 10:00 service..

The Junior Choir performs on an ad hoc basis. We assemble young people from about 4th grade through 6th or 7th and practice for a few weeks to sing at a Sunday service.

Contact Walter Koehler if you would like to join either group.
