SCHOOL WIDE FOCUS - LEADERSHIP

This term the whole school is focusing on one of the core values for St Thomas's School: Leadership.

Weeks 1-3: Our learning will begin with students creating collaborative learning groups. This will follow a practical ignition activity around different leadership styles! In Book Week we will be focusing on a variety of books and audio books which demonstrate the ways different people/animals/things lead.

Weeks 4 - 6:We will then move our learning to 'front loading' students with information around some of the different forms of government, both historical and current. There will be viewing activities, teacher led discussions and a variety of short research and presenting tasks.

Weeks 7-9: In collaborative groups students will then create inquiry questions around leadership styles culminating in students creating their own COUNTRY with its very own leadership structure! See the Topic page on 'Who Runs the World' for finer details here...

Weeks 10: Presentation time for these newly developed countries-this will be based on student CHOICE.

KEY COMPETENCY
