Learning Targets

Helping students Aim for Understanding

A STRETCh Instructor will make sure that learning goals (especially when skill based) are clearly articulated to students and parents. I would highly recommend reading -  "Learning Targets" by Moss and Brookhart.

Here are a few of the resources I used in creating K-12 math learning targets from the CCSS:

While many say that learning targets should be where you start and end your lesson, it all depends on how you are using inquiry-based learning. It is important that both the teachers and the students know what they are aiming for, but this is possible to achieve at multiple points throughout a lesson. These Avery labels make it easy for students to add to their math journals once they have mastered a skill.
