This summer academy is a project-based experience designed to introduce incoming Streetsboro 6th grade students to the fundamentals of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). This hands-on program is based on Project Lead the Way (PLTW), a successful pre-engineering program that is currently taught in Streetsboro Middle and High School. At our STEM Academy, teachers certified to teach PLTW courses will provide expert instruction in small-group settings. Participants will work together in fun, exciting, leading-edge technologies to sample such disciplines as robotics, aeronautics and computer aided design. The week long academy will include a field trip to a local STEM-related business.

Enrollment is based on a first come, first serve basis for incoming (2018-2019 School Year) 6th grade students (limit-20). Registration cost is $75.
This years program will be held from June 4 - 8, from 8am to 12pm. Fliers should be sent home sometime during the week of 5/8. Applications will be available from the Defer main office beginning on 5/8/17 or can be downloaded from this site (Navigation - Documents - 2018 Application).

Participation is limited to the first 20 paid registrations! Please bring completed application, emergency medical form, and photo release form with check to the Henry Defer Intermediate School office to secure a seat!
