Cargo Decoder

Cargo Decoder is your guide to what is in the truck or tanker next to you on the highway. Enter the 4 digit number from the DOT placard to learn about a material and see details from both the 2016 Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG 2016) and 2012 Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG 2012).

Cargo Decoder is my way to give back to the first responders who are always there for us. Cargo Decoder uses no network bandwidth so information will always be available even if the cell network is not.   Cargo Decoder is available at the Android Market,  Amazon Appstore, and the Apple iTunes App Store.

Cargo Decoder supports the Emergency Response Guidebook in English, Spanish, and French.

Cargo Decoder for Android now supports sharing

posted Sep 22, 2012, 9:36 AM by Marsh Gosnell   [ updated Sep 24, 2012, 5:19 PM ]

Sharing of material information is now supported in the Android version of Cargo Decoder.  Select a material and click the share icon to let others know what you found.  Configure what you want to share so you can send an email with lots of information or a text message with just the material name.

If you use Evernote, sharing will create a note about the material.  Evernote can add GPS information to your note and connect pictures you take to better document the incident.

Important Note: Sharing with Facebook does not work even though Facebook adds itself to the sharing list.  When you select sharing with Facebook, nothing shows up in the Facebook post.  Facebook says the behavior is "by design" (https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/332619626816423)
