Kendall Ford of Meridian

Building Envelope & Exterior Repairs
Meridian, Idaho - 2013 - 2014
Kendall Ford of Meridian

The existing 34,681 s.f. Kendall Ford of Meridian Facility was built in 1996 and is located at 250 East Overland Road Meridian, Idaho (close to the corner of Meridian Road & Overland). The existing New car sales facility houses a large full service garage, sales floor housing a showroom and customer functions, and back of house office space and administration.

The existing building super structure is that of a Metal building. The exterior is clad with CMU wainscot, metal building siding, and is accented with selected areas of stucco finish. The interior walls are metal stud with gypsum board finish. The floor structure is slab on grade throughout the building. The roof consists of metal roofing panels.

The construction work on this project will be phased to lessen the customer and staff impact during construction. Certain functions of the project will be temporarily moved to the Adjacent New Facility across Country Terrace Drive.

The project scope consists of demolishing the existing antiquated car wash and RV service bays as well as partial demolition of the project site around the building proper. A new customer sales entrance will be constructed midway along the western property line, improved customer parking along the building perimeter, and an enlarged ‘back of house’ staging area for new car receipt and staging for the mechanics garage.

The building will be expanded 4800 s.f. to include (6) new service bays to the south, and will be expanded to the east 2900 s.f to allow for more shop circulation space. A 3000 s.f. quick service or ‘QuickLane’, as Ford has coined it, will be constructed just off the northeast tip of the existing service drop off. This Quicklane will have underground pits that will accommodate (4) technicians.

Existing facility remodeling will be concentrated in the customer areas which include the service writers, showroom, and financing & insurance offices. The back of house office spaces will receive a face lift. A portion of the parts warehouse will be adaptively reused and converted into an employee break area.

Exterior building improvements will align with the Ford Motor Company facility design standards. Use of new Metal panels, stucco, and metal windows will be complimented by new exterior signage. The building façade work will span across the northern elevation and will wrap a portion of the eastern & western corners. New exterior space will be covered along the western elevation adjacent to the new sales site entrance for new car delivery.
