Hello!  I hope everyone has enjoyed a great three day weekend!  First, I want to thank everyone who took the time to check out the Yellowstone ELP Program website and give me feedback.  Your feedback has helped me to realize what I thought was a cabin experience actually (now) has a bring your own tents expectation.  Unfortunately, this is more than I am prepared to coordinate.  However, I also see from your feedback that many of us are very interested in this type of program, so I will research and see what else I can find for 5th grade for a different end of the year trip!  Next, I want to communicate that I did not send home Friday Folders last week so we could save some work for portfolios to prepare for conferences.  I will send Friday Folders home this week.  Finally, student should bring library books tomorrow for return or renewal.  Monday is our scheduled library day, but we will have Tuesday library when Monday is a holiday.  We will be starting a reading log this week as we have finished Holes, so all students will need independent books to read.  Thank you!

Hello!  I hope everyone got the email about deciding to have 5th grade wait until next year for the Jenness Park trip.  Please feel free to email me any further questions you may have about this.  I am now wondering about a trip I have proposed for May with the Environmental Living Program in Yosemite.  It is a one night experience at the Pioneer Yosemite History Center with minimal cost, but a heavy need for parent involvement.  Here is a website with more information: https://www.nps.gov/yose/learn/education/elp.htm.  I would like to get feedback about our interest level in this experience.  Please email me with feedback including, but not limited to: not interested, somewhat interested, very interested.  Next, I hope you got the email about plans to view the eclipse (with safety glasses) as a part of Ms. Wilke's science lessons.  Students may bring blankets to lay on in the field.  If you prefer your student remain indoors, please just let us know.  Finally, please note that our library day is Monday, so please remind students to bring books tomorrow to return or renew.  Thank you!

Hello!  I first want to remind everyone that students may bring pillows, blankets, and snacks on Tuesday.  We are going to want to be comfortable for some extended silent reading time! Next, I want to remind everyone about our field trip on Wednesday to the Tech Museum.  I am planning on the following drivers: Sabella, Bettencourt, Bronson, Bishop, Lehnertz, and Abilar.  I am short on seats for about 2 students, so please let me know if anyone has any extra space!  We will leave at 8:30 (please be on time for school especially this morning!) and will do our best to return by 3:15.  On Thursday, students are encouraged to bring a bag of non-perishable food items in exchange for free dress (however, only 2 items are required for free dress). Students who make their AR goals will be watching a movie on an inflatable screen in the gym.  (AR Quizzes may be taken as late as Thursday morning.)  We will have a class party in the afternoon.  On Friday, we will have chapel followed by field day.  We still need parent volunteers to help with the games, so please contact the office if you can help!  I want to thank everyone in advance for making all these special events possible this week!

May 21, 2017
Hello!  I hope everyone is getting some good rest this weekend after a busy week at camp!  I want to thank again our wonderful camp"sponsors" from this week: Mrs. Dresher, Mr. Bishop, Mr. Bronson, Mr. Maier, and Mr. Tanaka.  Mr. Bronson also organized/led a great field trip for us to the USDA on Friday to complete our week of outdoor education.  Furthermore, I want to remind everyone that book reports are due tomorrow.  Finally, (6th grade families only) please remember to send in the slip for our maturation class so we can honor your preferences.  If we do not get a majority of the slips by tomorrow, we may postpone the class until Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon.

May 12th, 2017
Hello!  First, I want to thank everyone for all your kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity this week.  It has been a blessing for me to work you and with your children, and I truly appreciate your partnership with me.  Next, I also want to thank you for returning so many forms this week.  We should be all set for our activities next week.  We will meet for camp Monday morning at the lunch tables.  Please come at your normal drop off time between 8:05-8:20.  Students will wait with belongings at the tables until drivers are present and ready.  Drivers currently are: Tanaka, Maier, Dresher, Deak, Warmbier, and Bronson.  We will plan to depart at 8:30.  Students have received a packing list as well as a schedule (extra copies of both were also put in today's Friday Folder).  We may have rain Tuesday, so an extra pair of shoes/boots may be helpful.  I have been told the main issue with rain at camp is that it gets muddy.  We will return by 3:15 Thursday.  We have another field trip planned on Friday to visit the USDA Plant Facility to continue our science studies.  Drivers currently are Tanaka, Jacobson, Warmbier, Abilar, Waldie, and Sabella.  I can still use another driver or two if anyone is available.   Finally, I have sent home paperwork for a maturation class just for our 6th graders on 5/22.  Please return this form so we know your preference.  Thank you!

Hello!  I want to let you know that our class has decided they would like to participate in a "Secret Santa" activity next week.  We have each picked the name of someone in the class to do nice things for next week. September 25, 2016

Hello!  I want to thank you all for coming to your student's conference this week.  You have reinforced to your child the value of his/her education with your faithful participation!  This coming week is the last week of our first quarter, so we will be busy with assessment and final projects!

Memory verse for 9/30: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.  Genesis 1:27

September 16, 2016

Hello!  Please look for conference date/time confirmation papers coming home today.  I look forward to meeting with you all next week!  Also, please look for another flyer about our Wine Social on 9/25.  You can buy tickets on the website or through the office.  I hope to see you there!

No memory verse for next week...we will be busy preparing for Student Led Conferences!

Sept. 9, 2016

Hello!  I am sending blue conference forms home today so you can indicate your top choices of times to meet in two weeks.  I am not sending Friday Folders with school work today because we need to look through our work to pick samples to use in our conferences.  Students have also been given memory, spelling, and class novels work today in case they want to work ahead over the weekend for next week.  Thank you for sending in choir forms this week and for making every effort to have your student(s) here at St. Peter at 10:30 am if your student(s) is (are) in choir this semester.  Your student is welcome also to come at 9:30 and join us for a special time of games and snacks.  Please note that next week we have Picture Day on Tuesday and Wednesday is a 2-Cans Wednesday (students bring 2 non-perishable food items for free dress).

Memory Verse for Sept. 16 Quiz:

And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
1 John 1:3

September 6, 2016

Hello!  I hope your student had a great experience at Jenness last week!  We were able to participate in fun activities like the giant swing and zip line as well as worship and learn more from the Bible.  Thank you for all your prayers and support.  For this week, please note the half day on Wednesday and please mark your calendars for the grades 5-8 choir singing this coming Sunday at 10:45 here at St. Peter.  St. Peter Church does a lot to support our school and appreciates seeing the youth when they come to sing. Thank you!

Memory Verse for Sept. 9 Quiz:
He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.
Isaiah 33:6

August 26, 2016

Hello!  Please look for progress reports coming home today.  If there is no progress report in the Friday Folder, I would like to meet with you next week, if possible. Also, please look for an invitation to our 1st Annual Wine Social, sponsored by our wonderful PTL.  I hope to see you there!  Finally, this weekend is a great time to start packing for Jenness.  Please look for the packing list sent home again today.  Have a great weekend!

No new memory for next week.  Most students need to be better prepared with this week's memory by next Monday or Tuesday.

Memory Verse for  8/26 Quiz, Colossians 1:19-20, NLT
For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ,
and through him God reconciled everything to himself.
He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ's blood on the cross.

August 19, 2016

Hello!  I want to highlight a few upcoming dates for you.  First, next week is already mid-term for us, so please look for grades coming home next Friday.  Also, please turn in all Jenness paperwork by next Friday.  Next, if your student is in Choir this quarter, please mark your calendar now for singing at the 10:45 am service on 9/11 here at St. Peter.  As we have added a drama option, our choir is smaller, so we really appreciate having this one performance be as well attended as possible.  Finally, please note that Picture Day has been moved to 9/13 to accommodate our Jenness Park trip.  Thank you!

August 12th, 2016

Hello!  We have had another busy week here at school!  Your students have been working hard, and I am so proud of their efforts.  Please look for the orange Friday Folder coming home today, with school information and some graded homework.  Among the papers you should see a packet (with a bright blue cover) for our Middle School Retreat at Jenness Park in just 2 1/2 weeks.  Let Miss Waldie or I know if you have any further questions or concerns we can address for you.  Also, please note that we do have a half day of school next week.  Thank you for your support and have a wonderful weekend!

Memory Verse for 8/19  Quiz, Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-His eternal power and divine nature-
have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

August 6th, 2016

Hello!  I have really enjoyed getting to know your children better this week!  Thank you for completing parent surveys and for helping get books covered this week.  I hope adding homework to my website (click on assignments on the left) this year has been/will be helpful.  We will still be using our planners, but this may provide an extra layer of accountability.  I believe our Spanish teacher has asked students to bring a notebook for her class, and I already have them purchased for you.  Also, an orange Friday Folder should have come home yesterday with school papers, and students should return an empty folder on Monday.  Finally, please remember to let me know if you need help with anything as we all get acclimated to a new school year!

Memory for Friday: See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy,  which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. Colossians 2:8

 August 2nd, 2016

Hello!  I am working on my website, so please feel free to give me your feedback! I have added a page for assignments on the left, so you may check for homework from me there.  I have added a link to Miss Waldie's page on the right, so you may check for her homework there.  I will type Mr. Richter's homework on the right until his website is ready.  Students should also return Parent Survey, complete "My Space" paper, and be prepared with memory by Friday.  Memory may be said before Friday.  If memory is not said to teacher before Friday, students will write out memory on a piece of paper on Friday.  Thank you!

Theme Verse for 2016-2017
Be joyful always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thess. 5:16-18
