Week of Dec. 16

Memory (Fri.) – "For to you is born this day, in the city of David, a Savior who is Christ the Lord."  Luke 2:11

Religion – Jesus is Born
 
Spelling (test Thurs.) -  chin  chip  chirp  chat  chart  chest  check  much  such  (Jesus)
 
Reading/Writing – new sound /kw/ spelled qu, cause and effect, word segmentation, listening for vowel sounds, oral blending, sight word introduction, new sound introduction, blending, dictation, nouns, plural nouns, and adjectives.  Our reading unit is "I Am Responsible".   We'll make word webs to organize our thoughts before writing, and we'll continue to work on descriptive writing (describing an object).

Math – identifying even and odd numbers, finding a sum using a bar graph, adding zero to a number, covering a design in different ways, identifying identical designs, telling time to the hour, counting by 2's, counting 10's to 100, counting dimes, subtracting one from a number, subtracting zero, and subtracting a number from itself.

Remember to read 15 min. or more each day and record it in your READING LOG (see inside folder).  Weekend reading can be used to fill in dates if needed.  

Complete an activity or two from your DECEMBER ACTIVITY CALENDAR, and record activities in your journal.  Return journals to school by Thursday.

Religion – God Speaks Through the Prophets (stories - Hezekiah's Prayer; Daniel in the Lion's Den)
 
Spelling (test Thurs.) -  dash  mash  rash  dish  wish  shut  shin  shell  shop  (shepherd)

Math – covering designs with pattern blocks, circles/squares/triangles/rectangles, sides/angles, making a shape on a geoboard, inside/outside, left/right,  counting pennies,, dividing a solid in half, picturing and combining sets, graphing a picture on a pictograph, heavier/lighter using a balance, acting out" some, some more" and "some, some went away" stories, and writing addition number sentences, and adding one to a number. 

 

 . . .and we'll complete our unit on ANIMALS and their habitats.
