Rebecca Hamlyn and Gerard Mattei have joined the group. Rebecca will be working on NAP-STM imaging of Cu based catalysts and Gerry will be focused on design and characterization of electrocatalysts for oxidation reactions.


Joe and Matt (and Mike) participated in the Spring Commencement at Stony Brook University.

Matt Kershis successfully defended his Dissertation entitled "Dynamics of Alcohol and Ketone Photooxidation Reactions on TiO2 (11o)." He has accepted a postdoctoral research position with Nicholas Camillone at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Miki Nakayama has left the group and accepted a scientist position at EAG Laboratories in Princeton, NJ. Good luck, Miki!.


March 2016

Fang Xu successfully defended her Dissertation entitled "In situ Ambient Pressure Studies of Dynamic Surface Transformations on Cu-Based Model Catalysts ." She has accepted a postdoctoral research position at Harvard University with Cynthia Friend. Best of luck to Fang!


July 2015

Pamela Carrillo attended  Synchrotron School in Brazil called SyncLight 2015L: Recent Developments on Synchrotron Radiation from July 13th- 24th at the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS), in Campinas (Sao Paolo, Brazil).



Robert Palomino successfully defended his Dissertation entitled "In Situ Characterization of Promoted Rh Nanocatalysts During CO Hydrogenation." He has also accepted a position as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at NSLS-II.

Pamela Carrillo defended her Masters' thesis and re-joined the group as a Ph.D. candidate.

June 2015

Fang Xu gave an oral presentation at the 24th North American Meeting of the Catalysis Society in Pittsburgh, PA. She was also awarded the prestigious Kokes award.

November 2014

Robert Palomino attend the AVS 61st International Symposium in Baltimore, MD and gave an oral presentation entitles "Structure/Reactivity studies of promoted Rh/TiO2 catalysts under CO hydrogenation conditions"


August 2014

Miki Nakayama gave a poster presentation at the 248th ACS National Meeting in San Francisco, CA entitled "Interfacial Charge Transfer and Reactivity of Supported Metal Oxide Nanoclusters.
