This is a course in graduate quantum mechanics. It will cover the material discussed in Sakurai and some selection of additional topics related to modern developments in quantum information and quantum measurements. Approximate outline of the course:

    1. Basic concepts:  Hilbert space, quantum dynamics, measurements.

    2.  One dimensional problems.

    3. Angular momentum, spin.

    4. Symmetry in quantum mechanics.

    5. Hydrogen atom.

    6. Elements of quantum information and computation.

Exams

Exam policy: NO printed or photocopied materials, no smart phones or other computing devices, but personal handwritten notes are allowed without limitations. 

Midterm:     Tuesday, October 22, in the lecture time/room    (11:30-12:50, Room 112). 

Material covered: Chapters 1, 2, and Sec. 3.4  of  Sakurai with the emphasis on the topics discussed in class and homework assignments.
